Thoughts?
P.S. Okay, maybe not everything but still...
How many times this week have these videos been linked here?
They're all my thoughts too. Part3 especially!
#1: Yes, the end-game (Inferno) seems to have been designed so that a player will turn towards the auction house to purchase items.
#2: Itemization is terrible. Diablo 2 had awesome itemization. It's something Blizzard should have built upon instead of completely scrapping it.
#3: Yes, the storyline is terrible and so is the way it is presented.
Yes D2 had a wider variety of item affixes but there were no balance between the different types of items, runewords slayed almost every other items, except for really godly rares.
What I think Blizzard is planning is to start with the basis first, just like D2 back then when it was first released, it was only after 10 years of constant patching and an expansion that eventually brought such a huge variety of item affixes, but at the same time broke the game.
Although the current affixes are lackluster, especially for Legendaries and sets, I don't see why Blizzard would not eventually but slowly add more affixes in the future.
The game lives on its fans shoulders, especially right now. With some nice competitive products right around the corner it doesn't bode well for poor old Diablo. Looks like he has had his day in the spot light, time to hand it over to the real pro's. Playing Diablo 3 for me is like saying goodbye and thanks for all the fun to Blizzard, now Blizzard/Activision.
Runewords were planed rly good, except enigma should be kept out of the game. You need to consider runes of high lvl were SUPER DUPER RARE, and items like, Infinity, enigma,BOTD and so on should be extreamly rare...
Imagine finding ZOD and then seeking ETH CB on market... what a thrill it would be, you knowing that only handfull of ppl have ZOD and BOTD.
I constantly see ppl complaining how runewords distroyed D2, runewords were fine! Boters and Dupers killed game, runes became cheap due to those 2.
game weould be eaven more EPICERERERERER, if blizzard would give 2cents about Diablo2 and try to fix Boting/duping, but hey it was blizz North game...
Diablo 3 would be a super game, if it wasn't called Diablo 3. Amen
Vid hit on some good points.
Diablo 3 has gotten the WoW makeover (makes sense, old D2 team is mostly gone, most of the work in D3 replaced by a team that is related/influenced to WoW).
Also the objective of the team has changed, or rather their priorities are different.
Not saying that it's a bad game in it's own right, but it's not a continuation of D2. From a new to series gamer I'm sure it's quite decent, but for those of us who loved certain aspects of D2 it was a let down, since we expected improvements on the D2 formula, not a course change away from the many aspects that personifies D2.
Valid points, I am sad that they made a modified d2 classic (with some worse points) instead of making a better Lod v1.13.
