Are they the same as D2?
max 3 prefixs and max 3 suffixes, or is that rule out and you could have 5 prefixes and 1 suffix now? I noticed on the char builder is had stats and stats-secondary. Are the secondary ones suffixes or is that an outdated concept now for rares? I know it matters on magic items, but rares dont have to worry about the name conventions after all.
I'm struggling to figure out what my "perfect 6" would be on various items, and atm idk if some of the combinations i want are actually impossible or not. So far i've been shopping for best within budget, but now that im in inferno I need to start looking/saving for best in build.
primary-secondary are two different affixes because some items have access to a "strong" version of a mod while others have access to only a "weak" version of the mod. For instance crit damage-primary can spawn on weapons but secondary spawns on rings.
We don't know everything about this yet but it seems affixes are "grouped" - all of the elemental damages are in one group for instance. Only 1 affix per group is allowed. this way you can't get a 2700 DPS 1hander by stacking Fire damage, Lit damage, Cold damage....
Also we know that modifier ranks are restricted. That is, a level 61 item should only have access to about half the ranks of ResistAll, for instance. That improves the odds of a good roll significantly, but it still doesn't help you get the affixes you want (just modifiers with higher values)
That's all I know.
