Hi guys, after spending all day trying to install this damn game on my friends PC, and trying every advice I found on the official forums, I'm out of ideas, and want to see if anyone has anything new for me to try.
Basically, I installed the game on my computer, Windows 7, without any problems, and have been happily playing it for a week now. But my best mate with a Windows XP, just can't install the game. At first I though the DVD drive might be malfunctioning so I brought him mine, but again the same thing. You pop the CD into drive, it goes through 'Installer updating', then you pick the folder to install into, click agree and then it just stands there at 0% installing drives. Friend even once let it run for 10h, nothing changed.
Today we even formated the drive, installed fresh XP, updated it to SP3, updated the drivers for graphics card, and started install. Nothing. Even withouth any AV or firewall.
We tried every trick in the book, deleting Battle.net files, manually starting the Agent, setting IE LAN connection, Safe mode with networking, digital client install...few times we actually observed the Diablo 3.tmp folder increasing in size but usually it would just stop around 4GB. And we let it run for few hours.
I'm think of my self as being very proficient with computers, but right now I have no idea what else to try. Even tried setting the port forwarding on the router, but no change.
The only interesting thing is that during the install, the window pops up saying that processor is too weak, but the friend had this same thing happen during the Beta, and he installed it sucessfuly and ran it without any problems on medium settings.
The easiest / fastest way to install the game is to copy the Diablo III folder from a working computer to the one you want to install it to. When you'll run the game it'll create the other required folders / files and registry keys automatically.
Ok, will try that today.
