I'm in A2 Nightmare (Monk) and I'm having a blast. Just ran into a champ pack of Vampiric/Plagued that took forever to take down as they just kept healing as fast as I could dish damage. I really had to run them around and try to position them correctly to be able to take them out. It was one of the first times in the game where it wasn't just click + hold, spell, click + hold, done. I'm loving that it's becoming more challenging.
My only real gripe is that Act 1 feels really long. I'm a "kill every demon" type and Act one just kept going and going. It definitely takes a couple of sittings to get through.
Griping about an act being too long is like complaining that you get too much coffee.
As a non-coffee drinker I'll just have to assume that you're correct. I guess I can clarify what I mean. I don't mind a long act as long as you feel like you're making progress. To me most of the quests in Act 1 feel tacked on, like they're not part of a steady progression towards an end goal. I've been assuming that's just because it's the first act that players hit and they kind of throw everything at you to get you up to speed on the game mechanics. Everything feels really snappy up through the Skeleton King and then, just when it feels like it should be ramping up for a dungeon crawl to the big end boss you end up back above ground hunting down staves and sword shards.
It's mostly a perception thing I'm sure. I know that I'm progressing towards the end of the act but it starts to feel a bit tedious to me by the end.
Act 1 I enjoy, although only played in Normal so far - cleared it with a Monk, DH and Barbarian. It's Act II that I find tedious.
Had a bit of a change of class bing and in two days got WD + DH in there teen lvls... I do love the different play style you get with the different classes and look forward to play wizard.... although will be leaving monk to last.... having the templar as a playable class and the monk as a follower would have been better I feel. Saying that I've not even played monk yet so I may very well be eating my own words at some point!
Loving it so far, I think i'm getting close to the end of act 1.
I have a DH in Act 1 Nightmare and a Monk in Act 1 Normal (for twice the hey-I-don't-recall-the-Cathedral-being-this-freaking-huge-in-D1 fun) and I'm really enjoying it. I like the fact that the player characters and the followers have personalities and the way that you catch snippets of conversation as you walk past people -- more like you're part of an actual world with people who weren't put there only for the sake of giving you quests.
I also like the fact I can play a female character in every class. :-)
I do wish I had a more capable computer to play it on, graphics-wise. It's at or below the minimum specs and even with everything turned to the lowest setting, the performance isn't very snappy, and my DH looks less like she's wearing armor and more like she has some sort of hideous disease. And I miss being able to build up huge item collections using GoMule.
I'm still kind of enjoying the game, but as it currently stands I don't see me playing for much longer. However, I think it'll be a world beater in a few patches/next expansion's time.
I'm not happy that it seems Blizzard care very little for the single player who wants nothing to do with either auction house. Seems a little strange to me just how poor the drops and crafting can be for the level/area/Act that you're on, let alone where you're about to go. Itemization seems off. Abysmal drop rate for legendaries and set items.
It's still pretty fun for a quick blast, but in my personal opinion it feels like it has no depth, no legs, no longevity. The game feels like it's still a work in progress, and that's fine. Like I said, in a year or two's time I wouldn't be surprised if it'll be a bona-fide classic, but not now, not as it stands. One day.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the game has been out for less than a month. To their credit, game designers did not scale drops to gear everyone to beat inferno in 3 weeks.
I am in Act 3 hell with a barb and completely self found. Game is a challenge, as one would hope, but not so much that progression is impacted.
Farmed a bit in ActII, but not a great deal. No where near the 2 mos. I spent in LK 1.07 trying for an Ist to make 1.10s beta CTA.
Wait until you get to Act 2 Inferno...
