So I just started Hell difficulty, and those of you who aren't there yet will be glad to hear that the jump in difficulty form NM to Hell is a lot like the jump from NM to Hell in D2.
I'm finding Hell to be quite a bit harder than NM, even after cruising through Act 4 with.... not ease, but with some degree of competency. In Hell, however, every elite pack takes a few minutes of kiting and flat out running away while defensive skill cooldown timers run out.
So, at least the transition from NM to Hell is very satisfying, if a bit frustrating.
Looking forward to inferno?

That's a long way off. Right now, I've gone back to NM to farm for gold so I can upgrade the blacksmith and start crafting. Hell is just too tedious with the items I have now.
It gets a lot easier once you get a few of item upgrades.
Well, it turns out there's an area that's fairly easy and returns a decent amount of gold/hour, so I'm back in Hell killing the blacksmith's wife ad nauseam. I gained a level fairly quickly, and soon (ahem, 10 hours?) I should be able to upgrade both artisans as far as hell difficulty allows.
Some of my items are pretty good for my level (weapon for example), but others are not nearly as good and need to be replaced. Hopefully crafting goes okay.
If you're on EU, you could drop me a PM and we could quest together.
Right now I'm farming the last bit of act 1 Hell in hopes I can upgrade my gear.
I know that I cruised through Act 1 Hell, but Act 2 is where I hit my first brick wall. Leveled up to 60 and farm gold/gear before I could kill the Act 2 boss.
Yea, act 2 was a bit rough. I managed it with my monk though, think I bought an upgrade or two on the AH and found a good chest.
I turned 60 in act 4 though. What class were you playing Smips?
I was playing Monk as well, typically with someone else playing Wizard.
