Old D2LOD Player

Hey guys, I didn't realize just how long (6+ years) it's been since I joined this site way back in 2006! That's when Ubers just came out right? I remember in the pvp forum we used to hold a tournament style contest, and active trading forums. We all know the big elephant in the room, D3 . I played a Barbarian in D3 up to Inferno Act 3 and while I thoroughly enjoyed many aspects of the new game, I do feel the item hunt is sorely lacking.

So I've reloaded my D2LOD on East to see if the great treasure hunt is still going strong. Should I be rolling on Ladder or non-Ladder? Are there events or items/runewords that are not obtainable on Non-ladder? I guess my goal is just to get to a high lvl asap and start doing runs for gear to try out different builds.

There's ladder only runewords, wich can only exist from ladder characters that turned non-ladder after a ladder end, so they can exist but new ones cannot be created afaik so that is something to consider. I don't remember how it is with the special events tho.
