acken, could you please tell us more about your Force Armor build? Skills and runes, itemization priorities, current stats (mainly All-Res, Vit, Armor)... Would love to hear it. Thanks a lot!

Well its not very different that other players that uses it It's the pretty common things. You should read one of my previous post in this very thread.

The thing about force armor is that it allows you to be hit 3 times in succession (or 4 times with diamondskin). Force armor absorbs whats above 35% of your life. If you get hit for 4K and have 10K life, force armor will absorb 500 and you will get hit for 3K5. The amount absorbed cannot exceed 100% of your life this means you must first aim your def stats so that you never or rarely get hit by more than 135% of your life.

There are two ways to achieve that goal that go hand in hand. The first one is to increase your health, therefore 135% is more. The second is to decrease the hits with armor and allres.

=>Step 1: Get a minimum of health and a minimum of resistances. If you want a rule of thumb try this:
    A1: 20K Life
    A2: 25-30K Life 200-300AllRes
    A3: 30-35K Life 300-400AllRes
    A4: 35-40K Life 350-450AllRes

These numbers are base on no theory so take them with a grain of salt, it just what felt right with my playthrough.
WARNING: These just mean hits will not exceed 135% life ! Due to the mechanic of Force Armor you will keep getting 3-4 shotted in all the acts !! You must compensate by just not getting hit through your build and skill.

Step 2: Get enough Dps. You need to kill stuff fast (normal monsters). The longer the fight the more mistakes can happen, the more likely champions are to enrage etc.
    A1: 15K Dps
    A2: 20-25K Dps
    A3: 30-35K Dps
    A4: 35-40K Dps
    (Without force weapon)

Step 3: Add anything that feels lacking, for me it was life regen. I feel having now over 1K regen life I can often regenerate my 35% life between each hits

As for a build I use the common HydraVenom+Blizzard(snowbound) combo with MM(Seeker). For defensives I use Energyarmor(ForceArmor) DiamondSkin(CrystalShll) and Teleport(Fracture). Diamond skin feels a bit obsolete but I have a hard time getting rid of it, I guess 100Hours of using it is taking its toll.
Passives are Glass Canon, Galv Ward, Illusionist.
But really the only thing necessary here is Force Armor, as long as you take it and follow the gear route I propose you can try your own skills.

Re: (inferno) So whats your new gear plan ?

Acken has helped me alot though I am still figuring out areas to farm in. I started doing the butcher runs and went from 20k life to 34k and 15k damage to 19k. Unable to find a weapon above 722 which has me wondering if this area can drop them.

Think acken said his weapon dropped from act 1, but curious what area in act 1. Perhaps others have a good run spots for elites/champs. I went to fields of misery and got some fast, I mean very fast scavengers was no way I could beat them. So thinking areas inside that have slower monsters like zombies etc....

Have a sweet spot you farm? please share. Thanks!

722 should be 2 handed one. its close to the maximum for act 1. everything nice is in act 4. max one hand i saw for act 1 is around 580.

    722Dps isn't high for a 2hand and is good enough for a 1Hand. However I did A1 with a 691 2Hand dps so if your still in A1 dont sweat over it, I then switched to a 700ish 1hand in A2 and then luckily found a 1180 2hand staff in A3 after a couple hours. I now have a 1008 1Hand that dropped in A4.

To be honest, your best bet for a weapon now is with the auction house. You can get high weapons for a pretty cheap price. A 800dps 1 hand is something like 300-400K I believe.

A lot of my A1 runs were in a group of 3 people and we just did the entire act a few times. I believe the easiest farm route is pre Leoric, get Leoric TP, use waypoints to get your stacks and kill him at 5.
A2 best farm spot is to go for the Kulle Quest (end) and go to the oasis/desolate to farm your stacks, if you are good enough you can kill Kulle and Belial with stacks.
A3 best farm is Siegebreaker kill quest, same principle, do the bridge and dungeons to get your stacks.

The thing with going allres is that it seems pretty pointless to me if you still get 3-4 shotted in A3-A4 if you reach a ridicule amount like 800-1000. Better use force armor and get 3-4 shotted anyway and use the item budget for other stats if thats the case.

To sum up: Just want to see a wizard with like 1K or whatever resi in A3 and show me he can take 5 to 10 hits from mobs. I'm just very sceptic seeing how well this goes for monks and barbs (knowing wizard has not the same defensive tools regarding resistances and armor) but I'll be glad to be proven wrong Meanwhile my force armor build with over 1K regenlife works very well for me A1 to A4.
Actually wizard has better defensive than monk/barb if you ignore their debuffs on enemies (which you cant keep up anyway).
Especially if you go for an archon build in a3, you can easily get 1500 res, 10k armor and decent (40k?) hp. BUT you'll be stuck with about 20-25k dps.

Try http://rubensayshi.github.com/d3-ehp-calculator/ and see for yourself. You'll get around 1 million EHP and act 3/4 mobs hit for 40-140k per hit.

Re: (inferno) So whats your new gear plan ?

Tried high def/vit gear but the slow killing speed sorta made it pointless. Now I'm at 32k hp, 41k dps with Magic Weapon, ~300resistances. In act3 inferno, halfway through. Can kill most things with no problem, don't really have to kite much unless they have a ****-ton of hp.

Most champs/rares require a ****load of kiting, but I don't mind it as long as it's not some ubercheesy affix champ pack that oneshots as soon as you stop. Those I just skip, cuz... c'mon. :/

Act1 is... funny. :/ Feels like playing normal.

Pretty happy so far with my setup, only thing I want to improve is more liferegen. Dunno how act4 is, if I can't take that 2-4 hits I guess it's time to stack some more vit/res.

I like it. I'm doing blizzard/hydra so I forgo any kind of attack speed gear. I'm puffed up to 60k hp, but my damage is only 25k. To spite that, I kill faster than you'd think. Siegebreaker runs take about 30 min (maybe a little longer if I don't get 5 elites along the usual route and have to go back to get my 5 stack up before the boss).

The "damage" stat is deceptive, because attack speed boosts it up a lot, but does basically nothing for a lot of spells. My 25k "damage" is without any attack speed, and with a slow weapon, so my blizzard and hydra hit pretty hard.

Now, I'm sure somebody out there with way more DPS and a more offensive spec does siegebreaker runs faster, but I rarely die, and I rather like that. (Even though death isn't very costly)

I'm going the same way at the moment but I start to think thats the dead end.

    Why?

    1) I've already got the best vit/int/all res items in a reasonable price range (thats 500k for me) and I have 36k HP, 550 all res
    2) I have 1k dps one hand (slow one, without ias)
    3) My DPS still low (20k non buffed) and I don't see any cheap ways how to improve it.

The only way I see how to increase my dps greatly is to use IAS. I don't like how IAS works for wizards in that game but I don't see any other way. My plan is to get maximum IAS (75) and fast weapon. I don't know the build yet but it needs to be based on some signature spell which should become a main DPS for me.
