Re: (inferno) So whats your new gear plan ?

I've been doing testing against belial on inferno, and I'm pretty sure the 100% absorption cap is after armor/resist mitigation. Probably after mitigation from stuff like blur too. I have 60% damage reduction from armor, and another ~40% from resists for a total of 76% damage reduction (depending on type, but roughly). Belial hits me for 60k without force armor, but with force armor and 38k health, I survive a hit. There's no way I could survive a hit if the absorb was calculated before damage reduction, because that 60k hit would be something like 250k.

Yes it's after reduction imo. It would suck terribly otherwise since without any reduction a normal enemy hits for like 80K or smth.

i have 32K hp and I dont get one shotted on A3 by normal monster. Some of them 2 shot me but thats the big guys that turtle themselves. I'm pretty sure without reductions even a fallen would one shot me

Re: (inferno) So whats your new gear plan ?

This is about the best explanation with some numbers i have seen yet, that explains how Force Armor now works in easy terms

    Mob attacks for 40k

5k hp wizard would get hit for (5000 - 65%) = 1750 damage = 38250 mitigated, Force armour absorbs 100% of the wizards health from the excess damage, = (38250 - 5000) = 33250. So the final hit the wizard would take would then take the excess 33250 damage on top of the initial hit.

25k hp wizard would get hit for (25000 - 65%) = 8750 damage = 31250 mitigated, Force armour absorbs 100% of the wizards health from the excess damage, = (31250 - 25000) = 6250. So the wizard would take would then take the excess 6250 damage on top of the initial hit.
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me to have that change in and its not like its broken now, whatever everyone else will say who used it before and are crying now.

I think aiming for fairly low Maxlife is still the way to go, as our flat regen and lifeleech become far more effective, we just can't ignore Vitality and %life alltogether. I think we should aim for around 30-35k maxlife, while pying close attention to armor and resi, that way flat regen and lifeleech are stll viable, but the force armor nerf doesn't completely **** the build.

No, you need to have a balance. Having only 30k maxlife, means at most, you could absorb a 30k hit with ea...not alot. @ 50k, that means you could absorb 50k worth of damage. Irregardless, wizard in inferno is a joke.

40k hps, 70% resist and 70% armor you'll still die in a second. **** hits anywhere from 100-280k, meaning you will be tanking 10k - 25k damage per single hit.

Lifeleach is garbage in inferno as well, as you only get 20% of the bonus effect from it. You can't hit hard/fast enough to make it viable.

So what would be the solution? Not that Inferno isn't hard, still there are possibilities?

Life on hit is not nerfed in inferno like %life leech is.

I dont know, i think diamond skin needs to scale. Absorbing 21k, runed, is a complete joke. Other classes such as demon hunters get invulnerability (1 second, but still), which saves their asses alot.

I guess the problem is that getting the gear to test out theories (such as enough +life on hit), costs a decent amount of money, which most of us don't simply have millions to blow testing out theories. For me anyway, it's a pretty big struggle (i've been farming act 4 bosses) in hopes i can make more money to test some "workable" builds.

Agreed. It ought to absorb half your max life unruned, and your max life with crystal shell. You'd think they'd have learned their lesson by now about abilities that don't scale.
