I have to say I am currently enjoying D3, I have a lot of criticsm regarding it but I am playing the hell out of it.
Anyway... I have reached inferno Act1 and managed to beat the butcher with my friends and one thing that stood out was how it looked like we were playing a WoW raid everytime a Champion pack spawned, someone need to tank, our monk, we need to dps it as quick as possible, and about a healer... well the monk does have a neat regen aura that help us with that, I am playing a WD and I feel like disabling the hell out of them, using fear and zombie wall to spread them and isolate them so we can deal with them individually.
So, the game does seem to have roles of tank, healer, dps and disabler, its almost impossible to do it without our monk tanking, blinding, stunning them while providing some heal.
But I have this strong feeling that they feel so much like WoW, anyone who said this game didnt have influences from WoW didnt get to inferno, get a group on inferno and see how much it feels like it.
I am not saying its a bad thing, it seems right so far, although some mods are downright unfair (Invulnerable Minions is chaotic) it give us a big sense of accomplishment killing one of them and receiving our first neph valor buff.
Still I think the biggest problem with the game being played this way is the sheer chaos and how cluster****y the screen gets, with the low poly models' exagerated animations and the thousands of particles on screen it gets hard to see what the hell are you supposed to do when mortars are flying around, arcane lasers are spinning, desecretors are creating their unholy magic on your feet as they are walling everything. If such mods and abilities were in Diablo 2 I guess I could see it because it was easier to read that game but in D3 inferno you need to be so aware of what is happening on all that chaos to not blink your eye and die to mortars and arcane lasers that it baffles me how blizzard didnt seem to think its a huge deal, any playtester who ventured through inferno would feedback how the particles need to be toned down and the animations need to be more clear.
Also I have nice reflexes, I react fast to what is happening on my screen but I would really want the game to a bit slower here, all that speed, action and cool skills effect worked nicely on the earlier difficulties to make you feel good but once you reach inferno, you stop thinking how all these particles look cool and make you feel powerful and start thinking on how those effects are screwing up your game.
Overall, the game has potential, blizzard has to nurture it right, still years on development and they didnt seem to have playtested inferno as well as they should, and given the ammount of positioning and "strategy" that you need on inferno, didnt they see how horrible and chaotic the screen looks when fighting those champion mobs?
On a last note, I think Inferno is hardcore-proof, seriously, if someone manages to finish hardcore hell (which is already pretty tough) I doubt they will have the guts to venture to Inferno, its just... insane.
I get a poison headache if I play the game for more than two hours straight, the effects especially in Act III are just too much for my eyes to take in at once. It helps to turn off everything but monster health bars, but I'd appreciate it if they toned down the carnage a bit. I'm only in Nm still so once I hit Hell the problem is bound to get worse.
@up which Act are you in? Couse I have to farm some gear if I'm to clear quests 7-10 in A2 like I did the rest, while killing everything, including elite packs ( unless it's the damn shooting flies with Horde/Molten/Fast affixes, damn I hate these buggers ).
While monsters in A1 were piss easy, A2 is much harder, some groups of even normal monsters literaly 2 shot me with : 63% armor redu, 45% all resists( gotta love the passive and my luck with getting +fire resist items), a shield, and 43% dodge on my monk, that's with 33k health, I know that's a bit low, I just had bad luck getting high +vit items .
I think it's a Diablo take on WoW. You need tanking, healing, cc, etc., but at the same time EVERY class is DPS as well!!!!!
Did you realise that you're complaining about the highest difficulty level on the game (which intended for months to be 'farm-able') while we're only a week in?
Did you seriously expect we can face-roll them without serious farming and gearing up?
Seriously... if you can easily beat them now without referring to 'like-WoW' then people will also complain that 'D3 is too ez'
If you are at inferno now you need to get out of the house. I am at act 2 hell and I neglected my RL duties already.
Not to mention boss encounters being basically Like WoW bosses put into Diablo...
"Phase 1! Dps the boss, avoid voidzones and attacks! Phase 2! - you're transported into a different realm, where you fight adds, avoid attacks and dps the boss, Phase 3! - just like Phase one with more attacks and higher damage - burn phase."
Not saying that it's all that awful, but it's the same old s**t you expirienced when playing WoW.
Good thing I've never played WoW then, hah.
I still don't see how it's worse than Diablo 2's "single phase" bosses though.
