30+ pages of a single legendary item -- no chance in hell drop rates will be increase

I'm in the camp that is severely underwhelmed with items. Almost level 50 and I have yet to see a single Legendary/Set. I was curious today and decided to use the AH for the first time. I searched for Legendary items out of curiosity of the absurd prices, and to see how many of these items have been found.

For a level 46 req legendary sword, there where 30+ pages on the AH. Literally the same item, just different mods and DPS. Hundreds.

Which is incredibly disappointing, because there is no chance in hell that Blizzard will increase the drop rates. If anything, I'm sure they're saying, "Damn, we probably need to lower these rates a bit more!"

The "everyone get their own loot" style is a failure in my opinion. 4x the loot with an AH which makes loot SUPER accessible, and drop rates are going to stay ridiculously low. As long as so many people are playing this game, the rates will never change.

    What a drag.

It's not so much a problem with drop rates as it is the piss poor mods the legendary drops get. The rarest items in the game should be better, or at least some be better then magic drops. As is stands, the rarest items in the game are garbage.

Blizz has said time and time again that it was a problem in D2 that everyone just had the same end gear, but IMO, that was their fault with the introduction with these powerful runewords. The most expensive and best items were always magical or rare drops with crazy mods - they were the rarest in the game and they were the best.

Also, as it stands, no one cares about legendary items, bc they suck. Lower the rates, who cares, if they still suck, they suck.

yeah...runewords pretty much killed D2. coming from a guy who regularly used them. but they also pretty much made them a necessity with their revisions of Hell difficulty and the narrow focus of the skill trees. most of the game mechanics were broke at that point.

I think they're trying a different balance with D3, not sure how it will play out.
