    Are the act settings totally lame or what?

    Act 1 -> Torture chamber dungeon crawl
    Act 2 -> Desert
    Act 3 -> Arreat??
    Act 4 -> Heaven & Hell???

    They could chose not to be "original" with the skill system, of the stats points, or copy the itemization of D2..... but no! they chose not to be original with the freaking settings??? is this some kind of joke??

    Well it is supposed to be follow the storyline.

    With early act 1 they tried to copy DI
    with late act 2 d2c
    with act 3 lod
    and act 4, well lets say they probably hired a few artists from the wow team.

    It's more mixed up than that but I wouldn't really call it "innovative".

    WoW? I thought it looks more like Protoss vs Zerg. That corruption stuff looks so much like creep. There are even creep tumors, and Kerrigan.

    Yes you are right, but that oasis level definitely looks like it could be out of warcraft III.
    Didn't know where to put it, I neither played SC2 nor WOW, so I probably should stfu now.

    But we can all agree that act4 looks somewhat out of place. I think this always has to do with the decision not to use symbolism in DIII no pentagrams, crosses, christian themes.

    Too bad, the zeitgeist of the political correctness hypocrisy finally got to them.

    Christianity doesn't exist in sanctuary, so there is little need to replicate its images. ALso there are a ton of pentragrams in the game.

    Re: Are the act settings totally lame or what?

    Only gone through Act 4 once in Normal so far, and pretty much rushed through it because my gear was probably a bit overpowered compared to the monsters. But it did seem a bit staid and stale to be heaven. Probably they couldn't have gone all-out with the art due to graphics requirements.

    Seems like Act 2 follows Act 2 in D2 fairly closely with most of the same settings repeated: sewers (very roomy?), oasis, surface areas, city area (lost city in D2), Zoltan's archives is the Arcane Sanctuary. Only thing that isn't really the same is the palace dungeon levels from D2.

    I see it as a way to keep the nostalgia going. I really don't mind having the same setting, as long as the Act III jungle from Diablo II is not coming back.

    There are indeed quite a lot of them. The one I can think of now is (mega spoiler if you haven't completed the story yet)
    Spoiler
    but there are definately more.

    I'm not really sure what else could there be? There are only so many "biomes" you can choose from lol

    Though I am disappointed in the generic design of heaven and hell related things
