    The running "Super Chest"

Is it me or is it all the more fun clobberin' the Treasure Goblin just to hear the little helpless bugger make noise before he drops the loot?
I would compare this to a cat playing with the "catch of the day".
Pursuing this "pinata" of a demon traipsing over cobblestone and dirt, bypass walls and enemies
(or whathaveyou), even know he's avoiding your character turning him into paste, rather than "give the precious"...
The noises he makes all the while you lambasting him are just pure hilarity.
I wonder at the thought if Blizzard might add more interestingly similar(quirky?) "treasure pinatas" down the road.

    Thoughts?

Ya, I love it. Some other people seemed to hate it though, for the fact that it leads their characters into certain deaths.

Past Normal Mode, where you can't brazenly charge into packs of enemies, it becomes less fun and more "Die die die, elites? run run run!"

In NM difficulty and past I think it is a nice balance of risk/reward.

    I personally love them.

They are fun, and if you are careful you can spot them before they see you. So it is possible to clear the area around them before chasing them. It helps to confuse or stun them and have some cooldown burst damage skill ready. mass confuse + sacrifice works well for ex.

Oh btw, I got the impression that the faster you kill them the better they drop. Each time I was almost too slow (they were about to escape with their portal already open about to enter) they dropped only blues.
Though that could just be a coincidence I got upto three rares when I was able to kill them on sight.

I think it is a really fun mechanic, BECAUSE it can lead you into certain death at harder modes Gives you a challenge you wouldn't otherwise get... an optional challenge, since you can always just let em go. Either way, leads to great hilarity

Fun stuff, yeah, but I play HC and I have discovered that "don't follow the treasure goblin" is basically one of the first rules to learn. Sometimes I am able to corner them somewhat or lead them through a part I've already cleared, and then it's worth an effort.

I have to say that I have trouble killing them fast enough in NM, with my defensive build sacrificing some offense. Most of the time, they escape. He is also immune to stuns as far as I can see, not to snares, but that doesn't stop him from jumping through the portal.

When people tell me "plz" just because it's shorter than 'please', I feel perfectly justified to answer 'No' because it's shorter than 'Yes'.

I get the impression that for them to portal is on a fixed timer, so even if you stop then they will eventually escape. In hardcore I probably would let them go too.

They could turn out to be the holy grail of magic find if there is a game mechanic how they appear consistently.

My thoughts exactly. Every time a pesky goblin escapes from me a kitten dies somewhere. Besides, it can lead to some real challenges, thank god my monk has the skills to chase them while being protected from elite's mayhem. Also would like to see in the future some elite goblins or some variation of them that actually try to screw you even more instead of just running. Now that I think of it, the secret level should have been full of these little bastards, a legion of raging little buggers wanting vendetta for their fallen peers.

One question, sometimes I run into places where there's a trail of gold as if a goblin had been there, but it's an unexplored part of the map so no chance I didn't see him. Can they spawn/run away off the screen?
