Any pointers? My 33 barb got crushed in the 'terror' phase...
I'd suggest doing him in a party (sounds dirty).
My first DH was eaten during the 'terror' phase herself, but one my second attempt Smoke Screen saved her bacon.
So I played through normal in SC before making any HC chars (blasphemy, I know, I know). I died a TON to Diablo. I hadn't really had trouble anywhere else. Didn't grind anywhere, beat belial on my first attempt, died once on the act 3 boss, died a bunch to Izual (wrong build) and then died maybe 8 times to Diablo... though this was a wizard stacking int with only 1 defensive skill for the first few attempts. (I didn't have much +vit at all)
There are a few tricks:
- Good defensive skills. I was playing a wizard, and found that with Diamond Skin and Mirror Image, I was able to beat him (though it still required a lot of correct movements).
- Alternate through your defensive skills. I.e., pop diamond skin, when its about to wear off, mirror image and run away a bit. He'll tend to focus on the closer images--pound on him. When thats about to wear off, run away. I would guess you can use a similar strategy with other classes.
- Fight close enough to the healing wells that you can run heal if you get in trouble, but not so close that he drives you away with AoE fields blocking you from getting to them. (Outside of terror phase)
- In terror phase, again need to have good usage of defensive skills. Kiting can be very helpful, conserve health so you can get topped off when globes drop.
Thats my experience with a softcore wizard. Your mileage may vary
Done em with 800 hp femwiz w/o armour.
Twas IK or be IKed.
Skills: little ball missle (runed to damage), big ball missle (runed to damage), circular freezer (runed to quick recast), warp (runed to cast three times in a row), crystal armor (runed to absorb more) and spitting heads (runed to be purple).
Passives: evocation, glass cannon and astral presence.
Its very impotant to have always active of something defensive in case of emergency (armour if caught, freezer if have time while caught, warp if cant armour or if slowed in armour.
Look at map for sheablo and use heavy artillery it its direction - its large, u will hit most of the time.
Dont even tink of getting close. Sheablo unfreezes very quick and runs very fast. If caught - freeze and outwarp. If caged - armour yourself and hope it wont crit u.
IK shadow clone ASAP or it will IK u.
Bash - Stun rune modification. You basicallí can stunlock every boss with a barbarian. After level 51 Frenzy gets a stun rune modification, so after that point using frenzy is recommended, but till that time, bash stunlock, and the rest is literally doesnt matter. I usually go with bash/rend (I keep the boss dotting while keeping him/her under stunlock), then I usually have stomp (if stunlock fails to proc), ignore pain (because we play hardcore...) one cry to your liking and depending on the content andother filler skill. Usually you can go with battle rage if you feel fine and want to get more dps. Or you can go with Weapon throw for 50% stun chance, or WoB if ya wanna go Super Saiyan
