I absolutely agree that they need to change how inferno difficulty scales and that's what they're doing, and yeah right now goblin farming is a necessity, one that I won't do anymore as it really kills all enjoyment.
You're wrong about 55+ resist gear not dropping in A1 though, i have several parts with more than that and I've never been in A2 and they're not from AH.
Just killed the Skeleton King on Inferno. He hit me pretty hard a few times, dealing 1/3-1/2 life each time. Luckily his attacks that did big damage were really slow.
Here's a screenie of my stats (did not have my enchantress in the pic, so Armor is closer to 8k).
Will continue working towards the Butcher and have no plans of even attempting anything in a2 without big upgrades.
Skills are Earthquake (torn between cold damage to slow enemies and keep them from exiting damage area and no fury cost), Revenge (Provocation), Warcry (50% resists), Wrath (100% damage), Frenzy (Sidearm), Charge (Dreadnought). Recently traded out Ignore Pain for Earthquake to help kill champs faster.
My babe is back at where I lost her ancestor.
Lvl 51 plowing through A4 NM.
26k life, 14xx dps and about 3.8k armor. Things are progressing nicely, but I'm dreading the gear optimizing phase that lies ahead.
Build is somewhat different than the previous one and I play her a bit more aggressive, but that has changed a bit sine entering A4:

Now onwards to surpass her ancestor
Barby took down the SK on Inferno with ease. Tomorrow Ill probably progress further. She went through the demons like a knive through butter. Its gonna fun!
My barb finally hit 60 this afternoon, my first character to hit that milestone!
I've only got one piece of lvl 60 gear on (cheap 533 DPS 100+ Dex/Vit axe I bought after hitting 60) so I've got some room to improve, but here's where I stand now:
Life: 49k
Dmg: 5.8k
Armor: 6k
Dodge: 18.2%
Resists: 109-147
LoH: 119
I'm only in Act 2 of Hell right now but I'm going to play straight through to Diablo now, whether I upgrade my gear or not. I feel as though I should work on my resists and damage reduction along the way, perhaps pick up a little better weapon if I can. I'm sure I'll venture into Inferno when the time comes, but I'm not in a rush, just happy to have hit 60.
Got to Warden on Inferno. I'm scared of Butcher, mainly because of my low dps.
Stats: 40k life, 800res (with war cry), 8k dps.
I can't afford a better weapon, and anything I find myself has too low dmg.
I can handle any champ up to Warden, excepting those charged bulls..
Untill this morning I was without any hesitation to say I would take down the Butcher easily, untill I learned that my WD friend died there because of the enrage timerHis dps was a ton higher then what I have and I cant do dps when the butcher is standing in the fires. Im actually scared now :|
What is a good fight to measure the butcher with? How much time do you have to kill it on Inferno?
Lvl 51 @ A1 Hell.
Runed Frenzy to Smite for the Diablo fight but only prolonged a pretty safe fight, so during the fight switched back to Sidearm for more dps. Blew some gold on the auction house for hell, but DPS wise I find it hard to upgrade, since I restrict myself to spear weapons.
Charsi will be proud of me though
Swapped out tough as nails for nerves if steel since it provides more armor for the passive slot. Lvling is REALLY slow now all of a sudden. Guess that big-*** ruby in the helm before was helping after all
Lvl 60 @ Act2 Hell
Heres my stats:
45k life
80-140 all res (with war cry)
7.5k DPS
6500 Armor
I run this build:

I am going up against Belial. You must know that I hate him and is terryfied of him. My softcore DH toon that I played to learn the game got killed by Belial on all difficulties. I had crap gear every time, the first time I just didnt know his attacks, one time I was a little drunk and I always played a little careless just because it was softcore, so that may not be any good measure. But he still freaks me out....
The only thing I worry about is my resist, but do you guys think I even have to think twice about taking him on?
When I take him on, is it something I should change in the build to better suit the boss fight?
Cheers
Leyan
