Obviously it's our 'big nuke'. It's supposed to hit for 215% initially (with some splash - 45%). With Wall of Light rune it's supposed to do 312%.
Ok, above is what should happen, now let me tell you what im currently seeing on screen.
I have around 1350 damage. With that number my generators hit for ~1100 (on average), and my Wave of Light hits for ~1200 initial and some ~400 with splash. My kick hits for ~1800.
Initially i thought that maybe mobs im hitting have some high holy resistance (since Wave of Light is holy damage) but the numbers are similiar on every goddamn demon i try to kill.
As for now my Wave of light hits for ~140% weapon damage instead of what tooltip says. Whenever i use Wall of light rune it goes up a little, but it's only half of what it should be.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Maybe there is something that i don't understand about this skill (which would be weird, is it's pretty straightforward). I don't know if tooltip is bugged and should display smaller value, or if the spell itself is bugged, or maybe it's working as intended.
Any insight would be appreciated.
I never did the numbers, but it was clearly not a viable skill for a low level (25) character, because it costs too much for the damage it does. So I tried it for about 15 minutes and I'm not going to use it for a long time now.
Yes, i had the same feeling about this skill.
This skill does too little damage for the cost, but what if the reason for that is a bug? 75 spirit is quite a lot for ~150% weapon damage, but it's not that bad for ~310 (with a rune).
Right now this skill sucks big time, and i'd like to understand why is that :(
I rarely use it also but it's worth mentioning that part of it's usefulness is the knockback.
I believe WoL hits twice, which would explain why the number is so small.
Explosive Light is really good, btw. It's amazing against large groups because of the gigantic AoE.
Wave of Light definitely costs too much for the amount of damage it does. It's AoE range seems pretty limited too. I doesn't look kinda cool tho I will admit.

It actually hits three times: Twice for the bell, and one more time for the wave.
Though there was a bug in beta where if you were dual wielding fast weapons one of the two initial hits wouldn't come out. Blizzard commented on it, though, so I assumed it would be fixed in retail.
I LOVE wave of light. With the rune that lowers cost to 40 spirit, this skill is great for knocking back mobs, and placeing running mobs in corners/walls. I will admit, the damage does not appear to match the % the skill claims.
I have been using it with the aoe rune (Explosive light) for a while now (lvl 40 atm, and I think it is quite satisfactory. I also have the passive for 100 more spirit though.
I forgot about it.
When im back home from work, i'll try it out with some 2 handed weapon and see if there are two hits (i'm always Dual Wielding, cause of superior spirit generation).
Because of a way im playing (kinda 'tankish' with my brother in coop exclusively) i don't like/want knockback at all. In fact I wan't it completly opposite, that's why Cyclone Strike i my main skill
Buf if WoL is indeed hitting twice then the number should be correct. Nevertheless it's still bugged but in a different way...
