Hardcore in D3 is incredibly more difficult than D2. I'm not even talking about the monster difficulty. Blizzard basically took away the safety net.
- no escape+exit to get out of jam
- no more spamming potions/rejuvs to keep your health up.
- no town portal escapes.
The time delays on all the above makes HC mode feel impossible when you get in over your head. Now your only solution appears to be to somehow stop/slow enemies as you try and runaway. Especially as a sorc this is quite difficult. Tell me it's easier when you get Teleport I haven't had a chance to try it yet to even see what types of limitations that has. My last sorc died just before reaching this skill.
So does anyone have other strategies/skills for escaping a tough situation with these low-mid lvl characters (especially sorc)? As a sorc I just try freeze and then wave of force if they're still coming followed by potions when possible.
As a Monk I just pop my invulnerability and Tempest Rush the hell out of there.
As a WD just Spirit Walk away.
And as a Sorc I use my nova, then teleport and wave of force, if some are still near me. This works well for now.
But the most important thing is to not let yourself get into situations where sh*t gets real.
It's all about gear and over-leveling in my opinion. Farm gold go to AH. All my slots have int&vit. For early game wizard I use frost nova, diamond skin and frozen armor with the rune that freezes melee attackers. Use pots wisely. Kite well. Use blur for passive with power hungry. Glhf
Edit: don't be too defensive. You have to have dmg and hp! Killing quickly is just as important as having a high hp
