I think this should be interesting data since the fundamentals of the economy are how much gold is introduced into the economy at what rate.

Note that these statistics are purely the amount of gold you pick off the floor. Does not count auction house, does not count selling stuff to vendors. However, these are the stats you can readily look up.

Include your level since it will also be interesting to see what levels pre-60s are collecting at.

Look up Gold Collected by clicking on your character.
Look up Time Played by going to "Switch Character" and noting the time played (probably round to the nearest hour)

Gold/Hour is done by dividing gold collected by time played.


My stats so far:

Level: 55

Gold Collected: 607,850
Time Played: 31 Hours

Resulting in: 19600 Gold / Hour


This is all before the farming of level 60 of course. That should ratchet the gold / hour earned up. And of course AH and vendoring aren't included. But over the next few days / weeks it'd be interesting to get streamlined data of just how much gold one picks up per hour on average.

I passed 1,000,000 at some point this morning. I have a Barb in hell with 38 hours played, and a DH I use with my friends with 12 hours played. I would probably be in inferno now if I just blew off my friends and focused only on that, but with the RMAH not being live at launch I figured I could afford to pace myself a bit and have some fun with them.

GPH: about 20,464

No where near where it should be, but really, gold per hour while leveling doesn't count for much.

Just bought a 168 dps pole arm with +60 intelli for my WD paid 10k lol stupid noobs listings things way below value. There is many bargins to be had on the AH, take advantage people and farm that content : )

So, back to my estimates : a very good player will reach 45-50k hour, and the gold will stabilize at 29-30k for a buck or euro.

Sup dude, that million was not even trying with rubbish gear just lvling. I'm lvl 52 now and just entering hell, soon as I hit 60 I'll start gearing up with mf and gf gear then the farming begins.

Also found two legendrys so far.

Still can't wait too say I told you so, when we see a 0.01 per 1k price floor all your crazy talk of 0.00001 lol. ; )

Reached Inferno, Level 60

Gold Collected: ~1,400,000
Hours Played: ~54 Hours
GPH: ~26,000


Worth noting if you take the last 23 Hours, the GPH becomes 34782. And it is going up.

I've now settled into "farming" Inferno Act 1 without dying like mad and the GPH will likely become higher and more "relevant" to what farmers could get.

Dude, no one is farming yet, these are leveling GPH. Hell, in my case it's GPH for leveling 2 characters at the same time. Give it till after the weekend for max level and real farming gear, and look at that in isolation not with the leveling up.

Also, all my friends are always broke. No one has any gold and they think I am somehow magic because I'm working on my 2nd million. One friend, who's from a rather well off family, said he'd probably only use the RMAH to buy gold then just craft or use the GAH. It would be nice if the gold demand was high enough to not be $1 per 100,000g.

Just did a little experiment, with my current leveling gear, selling all the drops, I got an average of about 78,000 an hour. That's not even doing the hardest parts of them game, and honestly about half my gear is a bit ****. 100k an hour is not just doable, it will probably be easy at max level with the right gear. Then again, "easy" is a relative term. I think at this point we've all run into a number of elite mobs with afix combos that just ruin our day and make us hate life. I dare say botting Hell or Inferno is probably damn near impossible.
