Granted i am not far into the game at all yet but seeing my templar dealing 2.05 damage as maximum does not exactly give me any hope of the followers being anything but a distraction. Or company for their remarks.
So far my templar have gained 0.05 damage per level which compared to the monsters that have as a minimum 20 hp where i am now is completely useless.
So any hope of the followers actaully doing some damage later on or are they just fluff?
Yeah, the same thing bothers me. I got him +27VIT 24DPS axe. And his damage came from 2.05 (unarmed) to 6.5 wtf? And on top of it his VIT jump by much more than 27VIT and his life almost doubled. STR item I gave him didn't change his STR at all. Weird.
There's a blue post on this somewhere.
Followers are nerfed to not deal much damage (not sure if just the templar).
They are more powerful for their skills.
they're for utility. Your follower will never do any noticeable amount of damage. What they do is heal and CC, or buff you somehow.
aha then it is as i predicted it would be oh well at least they have some utility function.
While they never get DECENT in damage, they get 2.5X power to all attributes. So that +24 str weapon is giving a templar follower (str primary) +60 str, and str still scales the same -- it's +60% of their pathetic damage. But if you're using the templar, you probably want a tank anyway, so load him up with +vit items, getting 25 life per vit point means he can suck up a lot.
The next 2 followers actually seem to get much more decent damage, my act 2 ending enchantress is doing about 1/6 the damage rating of my monk who has very excellent rare weapons. They aren't going to kill everything for you, but her damage is actually noticeable. The scoundrel for my barb is similar.
I am really dissapointed in this; does anyone know if they can transfer the "open wounds" (chance to bleed in d3?) at least?
Maybe they could deal some damage that way at least (although all the open wounds items seem to require level 60...)
