Hi,
Diablo 3 is a nightmare!
I installed it on my computer and launch night the game was ****ed, didn't get in at all, day after I played a little while before I got errors and got thrown out.
But that is nothing...I'm OK with that. The biggest problme is that I can't even install the ****ing game on my sons computer. I'm stuck on "Updating setup files" like I had with the beta.
What the ****!
And I can't ask in the ****ing forums because I need a ****ing character in order to do that.
And the support ticket is 3 days old and no reply...and I wont get any helt there either because their ****ing system refused to accept my submitted MSINFO32 and DXDIAG.
f****ing ****s!
Anyone else had/have this issue or know of a solution or anything close to it?
Make sure the beta is uninstalled before installing Diablo 3. Try running the client downloader again. It will verify your download is complete. If not it will resume where it left off. If that does not work right click on the diablo installer exe and select run as administrator.
Finally if that doesn't work, this works for everyone I know:
NOTE: This Fix is experimental. Many are reporting success. Proceed with Fix #5 at your own risk,
“I followed all of the posted fixes and none of them were working for me. An user on the battle.net forums posted his version of the C:\ProgramData\Battle.Net folder and uploaded it. All you have to do is replace his version with your old version, and hopefully everything should work (as it did for me).” -SCH from comments

Fix #5 Additional Notes: If you get a decryption error it means you probably didn’t finish the download. Check the folder you downloaded your files into for any that say .PART as the presence of a .PART file means you haven’t finished downloading. decryption error might also indicate a corrupt download. Run the downloader in the same directly you chose originally and it should fix the files automatically and/or finish downloading.
Indeed, I had the same problem and then performed the fix that Fearhad posted.
Worked brilliantly.
Although, when I tried to patch the game it would go up to like 25% and sit and then up to like 77%. Also, when I say it sat, it sat for a good 20 minutes at each of these.
OK Lolzebracakes.
I've downloaded and placed the folder. Deleted all the old crap and so I will try to download the whole thing again with their newest client file. I'll return with an update if it works or not, should anyone else have the same problem.
Thx.
simpler solution - find the battle.net folder either the application data folder in XP or under /programs (i think) in 7 and change the name of the "Agent" folder to something else and start the installer again... tada...
You should not need to redownload it.
Alright update.
So downloading that Battle net folder worked! I have now installed the game properly.
Thank you for that.
Now I'm stuck on the "initializing/starting" 0% on the launcher. The play button is greyed out...
HOPELESS!
I had that happen to me when I was installing from the DVD.
Cancel out of the install.
Go to your ProgramData and delete any Blizzard related stuff there (Battle.net and Blizzard Entertainment etc.)
Check your Program files for any Diablo 3 things as well and delete them
Restart your computer and try the installer again.
Worked for me yesterday. Don't know if that helps because it is pretty much the same thing the previous posts said.
Also you can try this. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4903950606
dude, ignore all above, right click ur diablo3 executable, and then go to properties, change compatible mode to windows xp sp3.
run diablo 3 again.
Wala, thinking about hving my babies? ^_^
@NewNeo.
Tried that several times, both with the downloadable game client and from my DVD. Still giving me a headache.
