Female WD, just love the skills.
Didn't get in on the Beta, and just got my first taste of D3 this morning. Decided a few weeks ago to go with a monk...martial artists rock IMHO. With all the American server issues today and not very much steady play time due to those problems I only got him up to level 8. He's one bad, bald holy man.
My first character is "Connectus Interruptus", a level 3003 Error.
My first is a monk who just entered act 2. Very fun, was a point near the end of Act I where I was wondering if this was the right class for me, but another level or 2 of skills changed everything, and now he and I are bros. Forever.
First one up: male barb.
After trying out all 5 in open beta, even for just several levels, I've made my list:
1. Barb
2. Monk
3. Witch doctor
4. rest =)
Made a wizard, think I'm around 28 or 29 level right now. Got up to beginning of Act 4 this morning before going to work. Difficulty for Normal is a bit higher than D2, I actually died few times which "forced" me to build more defensive instead of glass cannon.
I plan to venture to NM tonight, maybe when I can't progress more without farming I'll try some other class.
Drizzy, I heard from people that in D3 the wizard isn't as gimped as much in the early stages of the game when it concerns health/mana ratio and regen compared to D2. What do you think about that?
Absolutely. You won't actually use the weapon to attack at all, you have few different signature spells to choose from (they are free to cast but generally deal lower damage than other abilities) and then spammable abilities that will consume resources (Arcane Power) and then spells that have longer cooldowns but more powerful effects. Arcane Power will be consumed quickly but will also recover quickly. I've been using Arcane Orb as my nuke/spam spell most of time and it will deplete my AP in ~2-3 seconds when spammed, but it will fully regenerate again in ~10 seconds (faster if you choose to take items / skills to recover AP from using signature spells or dealing critical strikes for example).
The system is a lot better than in D2. You don't have to gimp yourself by pumping all your stat points to strength to be able to wear items and holding your skill points to use them on higher level skills.
