This isn't intended to be a troll - I do kind of see the appeal of making money by playing a game and am genuinely interested in the thought process/goals. But by your post you say $1000 and up to 300 hours, that's an hourly wage of only $3 & change. Are you more after the money or the challenge? Surely splitting time between a job & gaming would leave you with both more money and less burnout on the game after the n-thousandth farming run. Plus it comes with the bonus of "RL level up" (job experience, even as crappy as it may be). Even as a kid, mowing lawns can bring in some decent cash.

Either way, best of luck in the new RMAH economy, interested to see your progress.

Sounds like a fun experiment. Play some D3 and make a little pocket change along the way. Brilliant idea by Blizzard. When the RMAH goes live I'll toss a few bucks at ya. Good luck.

[QUOTE=Trump;8315545]The first month I do intend to primarily farm due to hopefully being "ahead of the curve" (as of end of day 2, I am level 55 - definitely will be 60 tomorrow). [QUOTE]

I wish I could drill through like you are doing to level 60, I've played virtually every free minute I've had since launch and I just beat act 1 on normal (lvl 16). Since launch last couple of days, I get up early (5am)play for an hour commute to work (playing on the train 45 minutes over phone 3G connection), play for an hour during lunch, play again 45 minutes on the train on the way home, come home attend to the family when my son is in bed and sleeping by about (9pm) I have maybe about 2 hours in the evening. to play... so 4.5 hours per day max and neglecting all other day to day stuff such as grocery shopping, or mowing the lawn or going for a walk on my lunch break (one of the few times I have for exercise).

D2 launched while I was still in college, I took my desktop over to a friends house and played that for about 4 days straight only stopping to sleep and eat pizza. To everyone who can do that now with D3, relish in it and enjoy it while it lasts.

All the same my personal goal for the RMAH is to at least have the game pay for itself over the course of a year, I have set the bar low and hope this will be easy to do for someone who will realistically even out to about 10 hours a week of play (with my other work and family responsibilities I would burn out at 5 hours a day). I am thinking the best way to do this for someone who is committed but only has 'casual gaming' hours available to play with is probably farming gold and the occasional item.

I can do the math and I did mention $1000 in 300 hours was a "humble" goal and not hitting that would make me seriously reconsider my quest to be a Diablo Thousandaire.

I consider $1000 to be the "test of proof". I would certainly hope to get more than that. If I just hit it, then perhaps I've learned lessons that will make the second month >$1000. If I don't hit it? Either I quit this foolish endeavor or I see if I've learned enough to make >$1000 the second month.

    Time will tell

Yep, it should be up a week after release and I expect it to be rather wild on the first day.

edit: oh, they moved it back.

This will negatively affect my estimates but as long as it is actually given at least a week before the month is over I think I can do alright. (cautiously optimistic)

So you made 1.000.- USD in the first day? Not bad at all..

Can you give some tips for EU players what items sell the best and for how much and anything you can think off would be appreciated.

Details man! The Details! One thing though is that we've had almost a month to stockpile items for the day 1 sales. I am wondering how consitent the sales will be in the coming weeks/months and if 1000USD (or more) a month is sustainable.

    Ps. Congrats.
