Installing D3, account name question

Will receive the game in a day or two, had a question about installation and account name. Was curious to hear how the naming of your Diablo III account(the non character specific name that is displayed for others to see) is done.

The last modern Blizzard game I played was Starcraft 2. When I installed that game I also got to create an account and also select a character name to be displayed. Since I selected a stupid account name it would suck frankly to have that displayed in D3.

So to clarify, I assume when you install D3 it will ask for the e-mail you are using to log into your battlenet profile or whatnot. Worried if I add mine it will display the account name I created when I installed Starcraft 2(don't mean the SC2 character name but account name). Not sure if I would need to create a new battlenet profile with a new e-mail to avoid this.

Hard to describe, perhaps a confusing read, hope someone understands what I am asking and have a minute over to write a reply.

I also played Starcraft 2 and DIII Beta. Since you are already familiar with the Starcraft 2 account, you will find out that the new Battle TAG required to play Diablo 3 is very similar, they are not the same however, so you won't have to use your old Starcraft 2 silly name. The Battle TAG is not what you use to log in to Diablo 3. As you mentionned, in the game, you log in with the exact same information you are using to log to your Battle .net account (the username is most likely your email address).

The Battle TAG name isn't unique, like Starcraft 2, it's an identifier that will represent you in multiplayer games, on the forums, etc... When you create it, a number will also be associated with your Battle tag, which may be required when you want to add someone to your friend list.

So, to clarify, choose your new Battle TAG wisely this time, you only get one shot to change it.

Great, thanks for the quick and helpful reply. Cleared up all of my questions. Only problem now is selecting this battle tag name then, got a day or so to think about it though. Like you say it is very important to make a good decision since that name is what you will probably hear quite alot from the people you meet in game.
