    Re: The most dominant builds in the history of D2

    I remember reading it did the same thing in 1.09,and with the possibility of higher palyer settings I was planning on carrying out this plan. There may have been no penalty on ranged attacks for CB, but I can't remember, and I believe it carried all elemental damage (and physical, too?) for each bolt, making everything super fantastic. I never got around to building the character, though.

    WW barb was pretty OP in classic D2, weapon speed didn't matter so you just used a big heavy high damage weapon. I King'd one fairly recently.

    Multishot zons with windys or eaglehorns destroyed cows early on. It was hard to kill anything when in a game with one them.

    Early on Jab ignored weapon speed so it was really nice with a big damage, slow spear. "Freeze Target" on Iceblink armor was also extremely overpowered and used in the build; freezing and poking stuff to death, fun times.

    Comparatively however this zon was way inferior to the WW barbs of the same time frame, and back this time I think Lances still weren't dropping due to a bug.

    Fend never got fixed, if I remember well it just got some damage buff.

    WW Barb - the time when mauls, and Grandfathers were used.
    We've got the Charged Bolt Sorc, the Nova Sorc, Bow-Zon (multi, guided for pvp).

    I played from 1.08 to 1.09 with these builds, so I'm assuming that a lot changed since then. Now I see that Hammerdins and Light-Sorcs are the most popular.

    Although, back then nothing was immune to the H-din, but before the advent of Enigma and all the other OP runewords, they were not amazingly popular.

    Prior to v1.10 & synergies, when it came to sorceress's, nearly every single one of them was a tri elementalist.

    Cold = Always Forb.
    Fire = Firewall, meteor or hydra. Firewall was the main one of you wanted to 1 point fire mastery.
    Lightning. Either Nova with 20 in lightning mastery or Thunderstorm with 1 point lightning mastery.

    Ah yes, I remember now! Hydra's were used to much! Why did they stop? Was it b/c of synergies?

    I have a 1.09 Nova Sorc, she got my Vex from Countess, and she is the best Countess runner in the patch, but you really have to play her aggressively and have a huge mana pool. The drawback is that she's not a good Baal runner because she's susceptible to Blood Mana (bad for a Nova Sorc - she burns through mana FAST). Plus you need good gear to get her to the 103 FCR breakpoint with a usable mana pool - 2xSoJ, Wizzy, ect. I'd put a WW Barb, Frenzy Barb and BurizaZon ahead of a Nova Sorc in 1.09.
