Multiple instances of D3 running from one PC

I feel a little retarded asking this because I had access to 4 beta accounts and never tried it myself, but did anyone try to install the beta client in 2 separate locations/drives and run them simultaneously? If so was it on the last patch (18)?
I do know that you couldn't run the game executable twice from the same installation folder. I will be in a similar situation come release date (access 4+ accounts) and would like to know ahead of time so I can prepare.

I've heard there is some file or registry entry that won't allow it. I know some people on here tried it and said it wouldn't work.

There goes that idea then. I'll just have to install Synergy again and link up to the guest room PC.
