Will Blizzard keep the 6 month D2 ladder resets?

probably yes. they want to make people stop playing d2 on bn. they don't earn enough money without bots, so fck up players, we don't need you...

As someone who is just coming back to D2 it seems interesting that they reset the ladder every 6 months. From a business perspective it does make sense to phase out stuff that is only contributing costs to a company.

As someone who has always enjoyed playing on ladder, more than any other way, this is sad and I while I can see Blizzard trying to get people to lose interest in this game in favour of D3 or other new titles I would rather pay a monthly fee (say $5/month) to allow them to maintain the service if indeed the ladder reset every 6 months was for this purpose.

I would prefer something in the 8-9 month range, I know 6 months seems like a lot but then if you can't play every day like myself you are stuck with developing your build midway.

I'd say 9-12 months would be nice. At this point the ladder just reset and we're already 1/6 of the way through it. I'm still building up my characters, gearing them out, and trying to make an uber runner. I'm already thinking next ladder reset I can't start as many characters (I have five this ladder) because I don't have enough time to build each of them up.
