After having played the open beta and getting a feel for the different classes I have been creating a lot of new builds and thinking about skill composition. This is what I've come up with for the Monk:
It is a build focused on mobility and having quite a bit of dodge to have an easier time on the higher difficulties. It is also quite moddable, for example if I found myself starved for Spirit I could just switch the mantra to Mantra of Healing with Circular Breathing and switch Fleet Footed to Chant of Resonance for a passive 5 Spirit/sec, and the synergy of the rest of the build would not be greatly affected.
Also in a group situation you could switch Serenity for Breath of Heaven in order to be able to heal other players as well.
The offensive part of the build is mainly focused to AoE with Lashing Tail Kick and Seven Sided Strike, using Cyclone Strike to maximize AoE damage and potential effectiveness.
Having this focus on tight groups and PBAoE makes a high dodge rating desirable, and together with Sanctuary enables the Monk to surround himself with monsters without being too vulnerable.
The Sixth Sense passive makes focusing on crit when it comes to gear/gems give you a two-fold benefit and this is something that I really like, especially in this build.
