Idk if I should be worried about this or not. The installer should come up after opening "diablo 3 setup" but it doesnt even open.. i found some other people on the diablo 3 forums with the same problem and i was wondering if i should be worried about this or it should be fixed by launch? It works on my brothers computer, the installer page comes up and everything, but on mine it just doesnt. I saw some things that have to do with "agent.exe" coming up in processes when there should be two that come up after? someone plz help the game comes out in a week and i want to play on opening night!
FIXED! IF YOU HAVING THIS PROBLEM TRY THIS: go to program file - blizzard - delete (agent) agent should have 3 agent clinets and some other things.. the agent clients are like 568 868 and 945(im not 100% sure if thats the correct numbers) after deleting the WHOLE agent file, run diablo 3 setup. it shouldnt work the first time, but it creats the correct agent files. after youve tried it once and it doesnt work, run diablo 3 setup again. it should work after that.. if it doesnt then im sorry, but it fixed the problem for me. other fixes to the installer not opening can be found on the diablo 3 forums including turning off firewalls/antiviruses, and going to internet explorer, tools, internet options connections, lan settings, and make sure nothing is checked.
Argh, didn't work for me. Blizzard support pretty much gave me a cold shoulder. After a few back and forths in my ticket they gave me the general Tech issues will be resolved on May 14th at 8pm blah blah. I dont have that file in programfiles/blizzard. I have no blizzard folder, instead it is in my programdata/battle.net (hidden). I've done that, disabled any interfering software (antivirus/firewall, etc.) opened TCP gates, deleted enUS and downloaded the enGB version, run in admin mode, run in safe mode with networking... I need this to be fixed for my sanity's sake!
Any possible input is welcome.
*Update on my situation*
I hate to say this because I love Blizzard, but their support really seems like they've given up on me. At first I was actually getting some fix it suggestions, although non of them work, it felt like they were trying. Now I'm getting responses from WoW GM with the standard, "Many players are waiting on the encryption patch which will resolve any issue you may have," answer. No. I have a legitimate problem and they are ignoring it. ARGHHHH. *Pulls Hair, rocks back and forth* What is the point of getting a digital copy if I cant play at launch...
Have you tried this?
If you try running the Diablo III Setup.exe file and nothing appears to be happening, check to see if the Windows Service for Secondary Logon is enabled. The game requires it and will not run if it's disabled.
To check, open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and scroll down to the Secondary Logon service. Right click it and select properties. Make sure the Startup Type is NOT set to Disabled. Any other setting is ok.
This service being disabled may also cause the system to appear to hang during the "Updating Setup Files" portion when run.
All I can say is WoW, Thank You! I called blizzard support and opened two seperate tickets, did 2 DxDiag.txt and they could not help me. You Sir, are a gentleman and a scholar! Unbelievable. Lmao, I just gotta give you a virtual hug right now, bring it in... ok that's enough. Seriously though, thank you.
