I think there will be must have spells, skills and items for people playing HC. For e.g. the DH and the WD has passives which are mandatory. barbarians have Ignore Pain which seems a dedicated HC skill for me. Et cetera, et cetera. A list would be nice about those abilities (although the "testing" phase is far not over yet.)
With a barbarian, I wouldn't go out to face the forces of evil w/o Ignore Pain and Relentless passive.
Don't know how everybody does it, but I think it's a good idea to keep essence in your stash. When playing the beta I always kept it in my inventory.
Eschew obfuscation!
I was thinking along similar lines. ground stomp, as an example would be great for controlling groups of mobs while you pick off the stragglers. Not sure how its cost would fit into a regime of continual use tho...but a 4 second ticker is plenty of time to get a leap off to clear a nasty group
It would be also nice to make a list about the propriate levels of each act in each difficulty. We know that Nm, Hell and Inferno has lvl restrictions, but that's not necceasrily meets the HC standards. I don't have actual experience on this yet (nor anybody else) but later it will be known. Ofc gear, gaming experience, ect can alter this guideline of levels.
Tip: Over-gear and over-level yourself for the next encounter.
I was level 12 with 2 rare weapons and some other rare pieces after running Skeleton King only 3 times and I thought I would move on. I clicked the Ancients event in the next area and was overwhelmed.
When you think you have good enough gear or high enough level, get a couple more pieces and levels before moving on.
Another very important part would be the "escape" section where people can share experience on how to escape certain boss ecnounters. For example, at the butcher, after he charges there is a few seconds window, where you are available to TP without getting hit.
Also, to the leveling section. I leveled up to lvl19 in act 1. It was easy and nice but the XP is just low from now on.
Having a shield as barbarian helps A LOT.
having a shield with ALL classes helps a lot I thinkWith my Monk I'm going 1h+shield for now but I don't think I'll swap to dual-wield. Although there is a dodge passive for dual-wielding, but I dont know what will be more effective at the end. I'm planning my DW with a shield also
Using shield with my wizard too (ACT3 now). Orbs compared to shields are totally useless. Shield + vitality in every item = easy (at last on normal).
Besides the vitality, look for methods to recharge your life: Life on Hit, Life on Kill, Plus life from Health Globes. You cannot spam potions in Diablo 3 so having multiple methods of life recovery will make or break you. I am currently in Act 2 and have only had one close call and that was on the poison tree ambush.
