Hi.
Was thinking about trying a cold nova sorc, and was just wondering how cold mastery effects cold immunes.
I know cold mastery in itself cant break cold immunes, but can it "aid" -to cold res. items break cold immunes?
For example if using Doom while having maxed cold mastery, would that break cold immunes or are cold mastery completely ignored when facing cold immunes?
Thanks in advance!
Cold mastery and -cold res items are completely ignored until the cold immunity is broken. The only things that can break elemental immunities is conviction and the necro's lower resist curse.
Example #1:
Monster with 120% Cold Resistance
Infinity provides Level 12 conviction (-85% resistances), conviction works at 1/5 efficiency against immunes (-17% resistances)
After conviction the monster now has 103% resistance (still immune)
Cold mastery and -cold res have no effect
Example #2:
Monster with 115% Cold Resistance
Infinity provides Level 12 conviction (-85% resistances), conviction works at 1/5 efficiency against immunes (-17% resistances)
After conviction the monster now has 98% resistance (No longer immune)
Cold mastery and -cold res kick in (Assume level 17 cold mastery -100% resistance, and lowest roll doom -40% resistance)
Monster now has -42% resistance after cold mastery and -cold res
+1 to pyros post
one thing iīd like to add:
most cold immune monsters have such a high cold resistance, that it canīt be broken with infinity. that is unlike most lightning immunes where it is the other way around
Didn't cold mastery break immunities when lod first came out?
in 1.07 it did. not sure when it stopped
Definately didn't in 1.09, so I guess it would have to be either 1.07 or 1.08.
I wish it still worked a cold sorc with conviction would just wreck everything.
