Is there a list which Two Handed Weapons the Monk can use? I remember in the open beta there were many red X.
Edit:
Found it. Correct me if i am wrong.
- Staffs
- Monk Staffs
- Polearms

One-Handed
Axes
Daggers
Maces
Spears
Swords
Fist Weapons
Two-Handed
Axes
Maces
Polearms
Staves
Swords
Daibo
Ranged
Bows
Crossbows
so which one would give us the most dmg / advantage? I guess a Staff/Daibo ? Or better Polearms?
2H weapons in end game have a huge DPS difference between 1H. In the beginning, the DPS difference is minute.
Yes you should have two times the affixes with dual 1h vs a 2h. But I think 2H will still do more damage unless you get two legendary lvl 60 1Hs.
Guru Staff vs Heaven Hand.
248DPS vs 533DPS.
+50% damage on a 2h will have a bigger damage increase on a 2h than a 1h as well.
Monks will almost always be better off wielding 2 one-handers (fist weapons), simply because 1 dexterity is 1% increased damage and you can get double the dexterity from dual-weilding. Perhaps even more with Legendary mods.
-- In addition, the faster attack speed allows for more Critical Hit and other on-hit procs, so if your build relies on crits (WotHF Blazing Fist, etc.) it's better to use 2 one-handers.
-- Faster speed also means faster spirit spending with things like LTK to ultimately gain more life from Transcendence and life/spirit item mods.
-- The passive Guardian's Path could be a decider as well on 1H vs. 2H depending on your build.
-- Set bonuses from Monk sets could require using 2 fist weapons.
-- Using a shield is the last factor, considering if your build/playstyle/difficulty/other gear requires you to use a shield.
2H weapons will probably be better for spirit spending, as I've noticed Daibo with lots of spirit mods, and larger attacks like Wave of Light. Legendary mods are of course also a factor.
Oh wait, one set for monks is dual wield..
Well here's another one that uses a 2H. Your point?
At end-game:
I wouldn't think it would be easier to find 2 good one handers as opposed 1 good two hander.
Yes you will attack faster Dual wielding, but your hits will be much weaker, can't completely discount that fact, every damage skill you have (except part of EP) is based off of weapon damage. So even Sweeping Wind will be considerably weaker using a 1h instead of a 2h.
The following skills would all be much more efficient with a two hander:
MoC/Submission, MoR/Collateral Damage, MoE/Backlash, Sweeping Wind, Dashing Strike, Mystic Ally, and Seven Sided Strike.
These are all skills that would have little to do with attack speed that would benefit almost passively from the increased damage with a 2H.
His point is that if you find the dual wield set, it might make more sense to use the dual wield set weapons and get the full set bonus instead of switching out to some other non-set (or other set) Daibo, at least until you get the Daibo set. :P
I think both of you are right. You can find reasons to use both types, and that's a good thing.
For example,
Dual weapons = faster hits = more spirit generated = more spirit spenders, but at the cost of damage
2h weapon = slower hits = less spirit generated = fewer spirit spenders, but each of them hits like a truck
etc.
