Well, never used tigerdirect before, but yeah, that is nice to be able to get a rebate that fast.
I would like to say that a 8800GTS is probably more than enough to play Diablo 3 smoothly. The beta really isn't a good way to measure, and you'd be better off waiting for the final game and seeing if it does indeed play smoothing.
My guess is your computer is cluttered as hell and crap is slowing it down.
Clean it up.
I have a friend with a X1950Pro (Dx9) and it plays smoothly.
I myself have an old HD4890 1GB that I bought used two years ago for 115€ and it plays EVERYTHING.
Dispite my historic long standing hatred for all things ATI...yeah, get an ATI card. Eyefinity rocks and they are over a year ahead of the driver game for triple monitors especially.
Radeon 7750
great card and no need to upgrade your power supply

but it costs more and you might have to buy a new power supply
the 7750 is definitely not future proofing, but it will easily play D3 at 1680x1050 all settings medium in a 4 player game, and probably maxed (except maybe shadows)
