Ok so my build basically focuses on high damage output and speed and keeping you're hatred full. Two hand crossbows or Bow would be ideal for this build for the extra speed.
Hungering Arrow (Devouring) Best primary skill, use to generate hatred to spam you're Multishot. Devouring Arrow rune for the extra % damage and take down stronger targets.
Multi Shot (Full Broadside) This is to destroy large groups of enemies, take Full Broadside rune for the extra % Damage.
Shadow Power(Night Bane) Activate Shadow Bane when you are low on life or running very low on hatred and in a tough position. Take Night Bane rune to refill you're hatred.
Companion(Bat) - Take the bat companion as another form of Hatred regeneration, combined with Night Bane and Hungering arrow generating Hatred it should rarely deplete.
Vault(Rattling Roll)- Take vault as an evade and re positioning skill. Take rattling roll rune to stun and knockback nearby enemies around you.
Fan of Knives(Fan of Daggers) - Use this skill after you're vault for a chance to double stun the enemies in you're area, or use it simply if enemies are closing in on you. Take fan of daggers rune for the chance to stun enemies for a very nice duration allowing you to refill you're hatred and kill the remaining group of enemies.
Passive skills:
Vengeance- since this build focuses on using a great amount of hatred in a short period of time we want to take Vengeance to increase our maximum hatred, and also help regenerate our hatred when low by picking up orbs that are available.
Archery - Archery is a must! depending on you're personal preference of weapon this can build you're demon hunter two ways. We can use the 2x Hand cross bows for the extra % critical chance/speed or use a bow for the extra % damage.
Sharpshooter - And finally to maximize our damage output we want sharpshooter. The more %chance of a critical strike the better especially combined with Hungering Arrow/Multishot. Archery, Sharpshooter, and 2x hand Crossbows compliment each other very nicely with the high % chance of critical strikes.
Let me know what you think of my build! Don't know if its going to work as I plan but it seems like a very cohesive build and I believe all the skills and rune choices compliment each other very nicely. From playing the beta Hatred is the most viable source to the demon hunter and thus my build focuses on keeping hatred as readily available as possible. Hungering arrow and Multi shot with the selected rune choices are to maximize you're damage as high as possible. We have our bat companion generating Hatred constantly, and When low on life active you're shadow power to restore hatred/life. If you find you're self suddenly over run by hordes of enemies simply Vault and use Fan of daggers with the runes selected you are going to stun and knock back the enemies around you, allowing you to either run or kill the remaining group.
Hm, it looks solid. My preference would be for Marked for Death over Companion, if I were to guess. Mortal Enemy seems like a stronger generator. That's a matter of taste though. Passive regen has its advantages.
I just don't see much point in using hungering arrow or entangling shot as a primary generator. You're going to be using it a lot when you're out of hatred (which will be a significant portion of the time), and you'll want to be able to do AOE damage with it. I just don't see how one can make a DH without bola nor grenades - One of them is really a must IMO. Even with all the extra hatred generation, you probably still want to do good damage with your spender when you actually use it.
Other than that, I'd try make discipline get used more efficiently to help your defenses.
Maybe something more like this:

Interesting so If I take MOD with contagion to spread the effect, is there a time limit i have to take down these targets or does it stay on them until death?
and im also taking broadside for the extra % dmg so coupling it with MOD should make for some nice heavy AOE damage
and yes youre absolutely right if I can do enough damage with multi shot or have my hatred readily available, the whole build is a slop, I will experiment between Bat companion and MOD upon release.

I think Hungering arrow does plenty of damage as a primary especially with the piercing. I just think its a a matter of play style preference. To me the DH seems like a mix of a trap assassin and an amazon. So I focused most on the of my skills on high damage like an amazon and having multi shot for AOE because it can be spammed. I don't see much for discipline unless you're using a lot of traps etc... I only have vault and shadow power which will be used sparingly
And I think Vault is a must have for any demon hunter... spend way too much time running in circles or trying to get away when you could vault, re position, and take down targets.

You can't do enough of anything with skills that cost resources. You always end up doing a decent portion of your damage with the free/generator skill. If you stick to AOE damage only with your spender, you'll lack AOE, since at least 1/2 the time you'll be using a non-AOE generator. If you have both AOE spender and generator obviously your AOE becomes much much stronger, and since single target will still not be too bad for you and is not really a common scenario anyway, it's probably a good idea to just stick with AOE generator+spender and not have a single-target skill as a primary.
If you really want single-target capability, you can always waste another skill slot for a single-target skill, but that probably would have been better used on something that increases your overall ability (extra damage, survivability or whatever).
Vault is really impressive, but then again so are a lot of other skills, so it's not such an obvious choice.
I totally disagree with Galzohar. You can do plenty with skills that cost resources. And targeting single enemies with strong damage is perfectly common and reasonable. There are plenty of healers, spawners, and back-line ranged to take out with single target damage. And Bola Shot is nice, but it has the problem of not being very good against speedy intercepting monsters like Scavengers, due to the delay, and the way those monsters tend not to cluster. I'd rather have Hungering Arrow when killing Scavengers, Tomb Guardians, etc..
