This. For me, honestly, I rarely get excited to play the exact same game over with just more difficult enemies. Luckily, with randomization, I think it will help the game not feel as stale with multiple playthroughs.
One thing I forgot to mention in my beta feedback or in the main forums was just to suggest UNIQUE bosses for each difficulty or certain little mini dungeons that are unique to each difficulty setting..
Blizzard has not disappointed me yet, so I expect the game to be of high quality throughout. Will it live up to the hype? That depends. For many of us, nothing less than a 10/10 megahit that will endure for a decade will suffice, and that bar may be set too high.
I think D3 will be viewed differently than D2 by the general gaming community differently as well; did people play D2 (at length) because of its inherent greatness, or was it due to a lack of other quality games?
I think we have more choices now, or it least I do; when I was in my D2 heyday, I never really had any interest in any other game. Now, I am still an active WOW player, and the new expansion looks promising...and is a more social game than D3 promises to be, at least at the outset.
Good points Crude!
I am flooded with great games to play just on PC alone. I have the bar set pretty high for D3 but I need to try to lower it..
I can Bet that it will be played for the next 2-3 years, and then people will just move on, because no matter what those FAT greedy PIGS, Bashiok and Jay Wilson say, Blizzard made some suck A*s decisions about the direction of Diablo 3 and I'm telling you, sooner or later they are going to realize it. It would have been way better if they had made Diablo 2.5 with enhanced graphics, new plots and characters/areas.
Honestly, I already see a diablo 3 killer on the horizon, and no it's not Torchlight 2 or PoE.
Yes it is going to live up to the hype...Yes it will be very fun to play.
Haven't really been following the game much before recently as it's a Blizzard game (you never know when they're going to be out). So I've missed most of the hype. But I expect it to be good as it's from Blizzard, and had already preordered it prior to the beta weekend, which just confirmed my expectations.
Hm, this post makes me think of a time I had similar hype for a game.
Um, can't really think of one. (Disappointing.) There hasn't ever been a game that tortured me so much.
The first hour (the tutorial) will basically consist of you flipping out at the fact you're actually playing Diablo 3 full release. After the shock and glee has faded, the game will have picked up and -- oh look, it's 5 AM and you have to be at work in three hours.
