I made this quick video showing off the early Witch Doctor skills for those who have not yet had the chance to check them out. Enjoy!

Thanks for that. Zombie dogs looks really pathetic compared to some of the other skills available. I played the beta and wanted to really like ZDs but the damage and health is so bad. I'm not sure what blizzard sees in the dogs. It seemed you had a good weapon for damage but it really doesn't show for the dogs. I really hope I'm missing something. As it is I'm steering clear from a pet build even though I want to make one. I plan to make at least 2 of every class anyways so maybe there is a pet build somewhere. I'm sure there is but with this skill system I would rather experience it in the beginning rather than sometime around level 55 or even 60.
ZD is primarily a defensive skill. You shouldn't expect good damage from the dogs, but they can tank normal enemies really well, reducing your incoming damage.
Yeah the #1 thing which people seem to be mentally tripping over regarding the Witch Doctor is that just because he has pets, that they'll be doing all the damage. The Witch Doctor is, at his heart, a proper caster. His pets, even the Gargantuan, are just a form of crowd control - the Doctor himself will be doing almost all the damage, and will be very active in fights.
And this is why i enjoyed the WD so much in the Beta. Throw some distractions/slow, open up the woop can, profit.
For me there's no real fun staying behind waiting for your minions/pets to do the dirty work while u stand there throwing the ocasional curse and just, well, wait... Even my skelliemancers had some kind of direct damage spells (not just CE).
not to mention you can blow them up for good damage
