TastyDiarrhea -- this is the name I love for PvP, nobody likes to be killed by TastyDiarrhea
Due to how games are normally set up, I tend to go with names I know won't be taken, such as Risingred (although some funny folks have been stealing my name lately).
I actually have a funny story about this. I decided on a kind of algorithm to create names I knew would not be taken. I took a celestial name or concept, and then I combined it with an animal.
The first one I made was "Earthpig" and I actually got a lot of comments about that, the first one being from my wife who refused my group invite in WoW because the name is so ****ing stupid. Others enjoyed it. My wife's common refrain was "that doesn't even mean anything!" ignoring the fact that her priest was named "Sansa" after a random electronic device in the house.
I began watching documentaries on the civil rights movement in America during the 1960s. I decided to watch Malcolm X (the 92 version from Spike Lee) and there's a part of the movie where a character named Baines is showing Malcolm definitions of words in a dictionary, pointing out how the entire English language is dictated by white culture. He started with "white" and then had Malcolm read the first word on the first page, which was "Aardvark".
Guess what "Aardvark" is derived from, which he read out loud in the movie?
Earth Pig. And I quote:
Origin:
1825–35; < Afrikaans erdvark < Dutch aardvarken, equivalent to aarde earth + varken pig
Shut up! my wife yelled, lunging for a dictionary. Guess what it said in the dictionary at home?
Earth pig. Earth pig.
Earth pig means something! It was a victory, the sweetness of it I can't even begin to describe. I'm pondering getting it tattooed across my belly.
There actually is an animal called that

Chaboi. Nuff said.
You always get to kep your name if you throw your clantag (even if it's a clan of one-sadface) in front.
I like my names to be something that describes how i intend to play them. Javazons called Fling or Quickfling. It should be a pun, a little funny and descriptive, i think.
My old lance barb was "weedwhacker", my Necro "puppeteer"
And then my sorcs were all things I probably shouldn't post here.
now that you can pick a gender I'm going to probably play exclusively as a girl. Maybe I'll make an exception as a barb. i would just much rather look at secksy digital butt than manly digital butt. call me crazy.
I looked up "es alora" and "esa lora" and found nothing promising. no idea why that didn't work.
How inappropriate could those sorc names be if they're based on the playstyle / built around a particular skill?![]()
This has been my experience with the beta, and I don't pay any attention to my char names since all you see is the battletag anyway. (Which is just one of the many things I dislike about battletags.)
However Bashy said they're implementing something for the final game where your char name will actually show up more prominently, so I'm probably going to give them a bit more thought before may 15th.
How about battletags? I just threw in a quick random one for the D3 beta requiring it, but I'll make up something more interesting and original and unique for the new b.net account I'm creating for D3 final. Are other people putting thought into a battletag? Or were you stuck with your old one from wow or sc2 use of it?
