Yeah, I was a bit confused at what it was at first when I saw the commercial. It's from the perspective of someone standing directly at the base of the gate and looking straight up. At first, I thought it was some kind of heavenly dome structure when the scene flashed by in the ad.
No one else saw the new one?
Is this the one you saw?

I haven't waded through all of the tyrael vs. imperius vs. diablo "they're fighting or not!" debate, (not in this post but mostly on the main page comments) which probably means someone will instantly correct this theory, but have people noticed that Tyrael is NOT throwing the spear in this video? He's holding it; the camera zooms in on his chest as he draws it back, but then he just drops it, like he was going to kill a downed opponent (Imperius?) and then decided not to at the last second.
If you look at the awesome frame by frame stills brokenstorm put into that zip, it's quite plain to see, wiht tyrael's arm beside the spear, which is just falling downward, in the last few frames
There's another shot of the spear stabbing into the stone floor; and we see that shot of Imperius getting knocked back and sliding on his hands and knees. So perhaps Tyrael and Imperius fight, Tyrael beats him, takes the spear, draws it back as if to kill... and then decides not to, drops the spear, and... goes into exile? Falls to earth on the Tristram Cathedral?
It's kind of hard to tell with the amount of blur, but to me it looks as if Tyrael is grabbing the handle between his elbow and his torso, if that makes sense. He does use it to smash down into the ground but it looks like he's struggling to keep a grip on the spear.
Amazing the **** that we cling onto, isn't it?
With the gate breaking, I would have to think that this cinematic is from the end of the game, or at least near it. But it could be a flashback sequence mixed in with something else, it's hard to say. So Tyrael was pretty much evaporated after he blew up the worldstone and they explain that his sword fell to sanctuary in shards, but that would have been 20 years ago. Too many questions.
Are you sure that's the Crystal Arch? That looks nothing like it does in the Book of Cain and one would expect them to accurately depict it there...
You are looking at it in reverse order. He clearly grabs the spear then flips it up so he can switch his grip to a normal thrusting position then shoves it into the Diamond Gates which explode.
