The Blizzard developers don't seem to be particularly good gamers. How well do they do in their own WoW raids?
Jay saying that he can't beat inferno doesn't scare me. He could be a keyboard-turner (I don't know what I'd call the Diablo-equivalent) for all I know.
It seems like they want Inferno to be a source of gold sink, because dying = burn gold to repair items, which has been confirmed to be hideously high.
I think it's fair that Inferno is not balanced for hardcore players, but the elite players will eventually find ways to go through Inferno. Question is will Blizzard counter such moves?
Be prepared to die in Inferno, that has pretty much been confirmed.
the people who take what that guy says as literal will be the most disappointed.
the people who do not take what that guy says as literal will be surprised.
So you chose not to believe the very person who developed this game and tested it with his own hands?
Not surprise, many stubborn old cows in this forum, sometimes the stubbornness gets the better of them.
I'm expecting tons of "%$#@ Hell is too %$#@ hard" threads to pop out a month or two after release.
Then next comes "wtf Inferno is impossible, I've used all my gold #%$@"
I just can't picture this game challenging those super hardcore gamers that conquer everything within a week, I mean for normal people it might take months but for the super bionic ultimate mega extreme twitch clicking animal casting demon slaying gamer ... i think earliest it will be finished in a week latest a month.
This is the best news since the announcement.
Designed just means you have to do your own (or someone elses who done it before) math
Also:
Not designed to be beaten =! designed not to be beaten
Blizzard just wont put in mechanisms in there to specifically enable you to do it, so it has to be discovered out of the things put in there to help with other challenges. So you would have to completely understand the system first and then figure it out.
You probably wont learn to beat hardcore inferno by playing hardcore hell, but by being a seasoned hardcore player and taking apart the inferno game mechanics boss by boss, dungeon by dungeon and item by item.
(in softcore)
demi-god
that almost made me shed some tears![]()
I imagine things will go similarly to how they did when Blizz patched D2 to 1.10 (I believe that was the one) from 1.09. They introduced synergies, upped the difficulty on Hell and started letting stuff from other acts be sprinkled in certain areas. It was a huge change to the game, and I know for many (myself included), going in to Hell with characters already made or ones just starting with the synergy system it was a system shock and required adaption. Now, all of those mechanics are well known, new builds took over and Hell is nothing compared to what it used to be (seemingly).
I'm sure months from now there will be those builds that make it easier and safer to get through Inferno, and that it will be beaten on HC. It's nice to know though that no matter how well one learns the areas and the major bosses strategies, there will always be those random Rare/Champion encounters with which to deal, and that's something that really can't be planned for. They can be mitigated, but won't be routine. With 4 mods per pack, and with what some of those mods do, it should be an interesting challenge.
It's kind of funny that Wilson doesn't know if the game is beatable in HC mode. XD He said "not really" and "consider it a challenge", which means that he is not thinking about it. The game SHOULD be DESIGNED so that HC char CAN beat it. Period. "Not really" means probably, that they want to use deaths as a MAJOR gold sink in Inferno, which means that they are designing the game so that you will HAVE TO die a few times per act at least.
Fine by me. I've never heard of Inferno being marketed as anything other than a ridiculously difficult death-gauntlet.
