I have been using a spirit setup, max vita for a long time, but I am running the pits and the archers seriously hurt me. Plus, if they kill the oak sage then my hp drops off a cliff. It's not fun at all.
So I've decided to go for a blocking setup. Losing the spirit will be a blow but I'll be at 99 fcr anyway.
The shield I have settled on is Whitstan's guard. Reasons are obvious- it has the highest blocking, is light and has FBR. And I don't need resistances or anything else from the shield.
Any other options you can think of before I respec?
Hi
Like you said whitsans best blocking shield around. Only other shield you might want to think about would be a rhyme for CBF--archers can be chilly.

Thanks.
I respeced to use whitstan's guard maxblock and ran Pits again. It was awesome. I didn't have any trouble.
Already using an RF for CBF, so rhyme isn't required. Also, rhyme heater would need way more dex to block and I would have low hp.
Another thing I included in this respec was a 1 point solar creeper. It's actually pretty good.
for blocking there are the usual suspects:
whistans for lowest dex requirements
stormshield for good block a bit of res and 35% dr to further decrese the damage taken of the other 25% (75% while running) that arenīt blocked
mosers for resistances and 2 open slots
iīd persoanlly go for a stormshield if archers are the main problem, as a druid has high life anyway and the dr% is just to sweet. can also be str bugged, so the str requirements arenīt that steep. whistans would be my close second
