Considering the arrival of D3 and the sub-forums it might prompt to create, Wouldn't it be time to split, divide and reorganize the forums' divisions? The purpose of this would be for the place to be (relatively) more organized and grant the user better control of what to collapse.
For example, I think the most obvious change would be to finally create the "D3 strategy forums" akin to D2's one and move Theorycrafting and the classes' forum into that division. Also, considering how little traffic they have, merging the Feedback sections with the Diablo nut, wiki and podcast into a single place, would attract more people to post there, since by default, users are more likely to enter the feedback forum in search for information. This would give more publicity to the other topics.
Moreover, I think I should be time for a general diablo forums, let's say "Diablo General", to be created, which could contain Files & Tools, Fan Creations, Story and Lore (who ought to be renamed, since the discussion pertains to the entire sage, not only the last game), Off Topic and perhaps Diablo 1...
Regarding the "Purge", as far as I've seen and tried, all threads from 2003 and early 2004 are unaccessible, at least by common users. By my account there are thousands of them. Wouldn't deleting them relieve some space from the forum? I know nothing about how forums work, but wouldn't also make it faster to load? What is the purpose of keeping them? Does having the links, regardless if they work, helps with the search engines?
Also, would it be possible to have the "What's going On?" section (User List, Statistics, Icon Legend) to be able to be collapsed again, like it used be before the last system change?
Thanks for reading and eternal props for all the work you do here.
The forum restructuring is being done after the beta ends and then just after release.
Thanks for the feedback and input.
