    Battlemage/Tankmage build

    Hey everybody

    So, I never got around to playing the wizard in the beta weekend, but I fooled around with the skill builder and came up with this

    Not sure if it will be any good, but should be good for a laugh at least.

    One thing I'm not really sure about is Magic Weapon. I'm hoping it will enhance the power of Spectral Blade, but I can't be sure. I tried looking around the forums but haven't seen anything that definitively answered my question. At the very least I'm thinking it will make my Wizard look cool lol. If not I suppose I'll grab another offensive/defensive skill.

    Standard battle plan will be as follows:

    1. Walk up to mobs and slap them around with Spectral Blade
    2. Occasionally pop Arcane Nova and Force Wave for crowd control
    3. Pop Magic Weapon to look scary and intimidating
    4. Laugh as the mob's attacks bounce off harmlessly off of me
    5. ???
    6. Profit!

    Let me know if I blatantly missed something in my infinite noobishness

    PS: For those curious I made a conscious choice not base my build around the highest and most powerful rune effects. I'd rather not feel like I have to wait until Lvl 55+ when I'm already in Inferno or whatever to feel like my build is finally 'complete.' At that point, yeah, I'll get those runes, but I'm not basing my build around them. I want to feel like my PC is complete and battle-ready around lvl 30-40.

    I like Frost Nova or Diamond Armor over Familiar. I think you underestimate how much you will need the defense in Hell and Inferno in melee =)

    Well, I will disagree respectfully. I didn't get to see diamond skin in action, but I'm not all that interested/impressed. A little tedious in terms of micromanagement for my tastes, and a tiny six-second window in which to enjoy its benefits. Now obviously, we've only played the beta so far, so we can't be sure just how rough Hell/Inferno is, but I'm confident in my defensive choices (Energy Armor + Blur + Galvanizing Ward). When the time comes to cross that bridge I'll be sure to make any needed adjustments.

    I'm thinking of discarding Magic Weapon and subbing in Slow Time - I think it goes well with the Force Wave/Nova theme that forms my secondary skillset and turns monsters into even weaker wimps. Hang on, I'm looking at it right now the skill calculator - I didn't realize that it can have Time Warp, increasing damage to affected mobs by 20%. Yep, Magic Weapon will probably be replaced now.
