    Life link

How do you interpret zombie dog life link rune? Is it effectively 10% damage reduction with 3 dogs for WD or 30%? Would Zombie handler take it up to 40%?

I'm pretty sure it's 10% reduction. That means that 10% of the damage you take is transfered to your dogs, and shared between them.

So let's say that a monster hits you for 100 damage:

you will receive 90 damage and your dogs will receive 3.33 damage each. If you have 4 dogs, then they will each taake 2.5 damage.

That would mean that having more dogs with this rune would keep them alive longer than if they were only 3 dogs. Also, I see a potentially good synergy with Circle of Life passive skill.

Tryzx is right, the reduction is not per dog, it's a fixed 10%.

However, I'm not sure that the damage is shared between the dogs like that. I have a theory that dogs have a shared life pool, which is divided into chunks for each dog. In practice this would mean that only one dog at a time would receive the damage the pack suffers and when its chunk of life runs out, the dog dies. This theory is based on my observation of the displayed health bar of the dogs. A dog always seemed to die for me when the bar depleted, but then the bar jumped back to full again. This would be consistent with my theory.

This would mean only one dog gets damaged by Life Link at a time. They would still live longer if you had 4 dogs of course. Not because the damage is shared, but because they have more combined life. However this would of course also mean, that as the dogs get damaged by Life Link after a while you wouldn't still have 4 dogs with low life, but 1 dog with max life.

If someone could confirm or refute my theory I would really appreciate it.

Hardrock I think you are right about this. I also noticed that when a ZD died, the next one always was at full life.

However, it seems counter-intuitive to me. Let's say that your 3 dogs are fighting 3 different ennemies. All logic says that they each take damage, not that one of them is take triple the damage and the other ones none.

I think we need a blue post to clarify that :P

Or just wait the release and test it out... Anyhow that's valid theory. If that's how it works then the system does have some pros and some cons depending of the situation.

Yeah I'd see the LK swipe, hit all 3, and just one would die while the other two were fine. I think it is a shared pool.

We still have to pass the time while we wait for the release, so why not discuss on things that we don't know for sure yet?

No, they can all die just from one hit of Leoric's whirlwind, it happened to me. The system I proposed won't prevent that. If they all suffer damage from one hit that's more than their combined life they will still die.
