Wiz slow time runes have some party properties and is a good cc in general. Ice nova is also a good cc.
"DPS"/Tank builds won't work in Diablo. They'll work, but they won't be the fastest. The best 4-person build will be comprised of well-rounded characters with lots of synergy and damage, taking advantage of each class' strongest skills. A balance of ranged and melee is good to have at 2/2, but you can easily roll through Inferno on 3 Monks and a DH.
For Normal mode it really doesn't matter. Just play and have fun since it's for new players getting the hang of the game. For the more difficult modes, i.e. inferno, a monk will be a great addition to the team. Although it may not be the most fun class, which I think is currently the Barbarian. The mage doesn't seem to be nearly as fun as it SHOULD have been...
You have no way of knowing that. I say that using a setup where one character can increase the entire party's defensive capacity by a large extent at only a somewhat small sacrifice to his personal DPS, will allow for a much faster first time through Inferno. But we'll find out!
Tank builds definitely wont be the fastest in n/nm/hell... but they might be necessary in inferno early on until everyone gets geared, as stuff in inferno is supposed to hurt bad.
IE rares might spawn as super-fast/cannot be frozen/stunned/slowed/super-strong where the only way to deal with them is to have 1 person take the hits in the face while the rest try to burn it down... unless you build to tank you might not live through it.
either way its the number 1 ingredient in spaghetti sauce, and everyone loves spaghetti.

you can do a 4 man group without a monk but if you want the best group possible it needs a monk, he just offers to much to other players. followed by barb. after that who knows. dh can bring some serious pain. wd got meat walls to help you out and the slow will only help the dh. the wiz offers some cc for you. i believe the best 4 man leaves the wizard home
