you bring up various reasons but forget the most simple, yet most outstanding: it's because the Witchdoctor is AWESOME!

It's the most original class imo.You can choose to roll with or without pets and still be a monster on the battlefield.

I think the other thing to remember is that Witch Doctor was one of the first classes announced .. there seems to be this level of concern associated around the demon hunter because of not only it being the last class to be presented, but it was being tuned quite heavily even throughout the beta that people are worried about it being under powered, as well as confusion surrounding the resource system

WD was clearly fell well conceptualised from the beginning, which is largely probably due to it being somewhat of an incarnation of the Necromancer

I was a fan of the witch doctor from the beginning. Now that i can actually play the game, im glad he's fun, and i love his voice actor.
