I understand that the "world first" acheivments may mean nothing to some of us, but it is a big deal to some people. for them the simple enjoyment of the game is not enough. they dont care about story or lore (if they do, it takes a back seat to what they care about more), they are so competitive and the possibility of actually being the first person on the planet to accomplish something really difficult is really attractive. I admire the people that have the tenacity and confidence to actually say 'I can do this; I am dedicated enough and smart enough that I could actually do this.' first lvl 60 or first hc inferno completion is something to be admired, even if its not important to you or me.
Wouldn't the time it actually takes be what matters anyway? We know when everyone starts so it's not like you can't see who was the fastest anyway.
If Koreans really get to play first, I'm putting my money on one of them. I would probably still do so if they weren't first to start... But personally I also don't really care.

When people tell me "plz" just because it's shorter than 'please', I feel perfectly justified to answer 'No' because it's shorter than 'Yes'.
And the Lord said unto Carl: 'Come forth and receive eternal life'. But Carl came fifth and won a toaster.
One thing I have always found is that for every one guy that claims world first and gloats about it, there are 20 people that don't give a **** that have done it before them.
It is a cool minigame inside of the game to try and see who can get to the end the fastest. I enjoy watching speedruns of old Nintendo games and whatnot, but this seems like such a lame exercise in ego stroking to me.
The real challenge in my books is lets see who can make the most money on the real money auction house in the first year. There's an achievement.
I also don't think that being first to hit Clvl 60 will be is THAT much of an achievment, simply because it honestly isn't that difficult. I don't think we should really make a big fuss about it simply because it is merely matter of time a person has versus time that other people don't have. In my book we should celebrate achievments that take serious skill, and that, no matter the time investment, vast majority of people can't do. Reaching Clvl. 60 in Inferno only means that some guy (or gal) took three or four days of off work and played non-stop. What it doesn't tell me is that this person had tremendous skill or anything like that.
Thats why I am much more interested in who will kill Act IV boss in Inferno, because, if the Inferno is half as difficult as devs say it is, that is an achievment that, no matter the your time investment, unless you actually have a lot of skill, you can't pull of. I really think that Blizzard should implement tracking across all servers for that (and other similiarly difficult achievments, if there are any), so that we really know who was the first to do it, instead of merely knowing who was the first to upload video to YouTube. I don't think it would be a problem to implement tracking for something like that, when they feel that tracking number of deaths from Hogger in WoW is worth implementing
From the race to Clvl. 60, I think that the only noteable race is race to see who will be the first Hardcore Clvl. 60 character, which is also something that should be tracked across all servers. That is another thing that should take skill.
But, after May 15th, I will be too busy playing Diablo 3 while trying to keep up with my regular responsibilities to care, anyway.
This is why timezones suck.
I totally agree, I also made some comments on the Athene youtube video about that. Going for sc achievements, and then after that going for hc, is really nothing but putting yourself out of the hc race. I personally think thats a dumb idea if you want recognition. Hell, if you go straight into hc on launch day and complete inferno worlds first, even Blizzard might notice right, and pay your dues on their homepage or whatever. Geeky stuff, but fun stuff for the competitive minds.
It would also make their last streaming actually interesting, see them die in act 4 and all.

I was originally planning on trying to get several world firsts in HC mode (http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...ople&highlight) but due to the gated start times I don't think that's a reality.
I don't think World first 60 HC is realistic because I'm in the America's region which starts 9 hours after Europe and possibly 15 hours after Taiwan. That also prevents World first HC to Inferno which leaves me with World First HC Inferno clear. I also don't think that's going to be possible because I'm not going to have a group of players farming gear for me or sharing accounts 24/7.
This does leave me with attainable HC server and Inferno first goals which me and my group are going to be going for with it being streamed. Account sharing isn't going to be applicable to hitting 60 because I'm confident I can go from 1-60 in one sitting (deaths aside). We're also going for World first HC Inferno clear although I don't think we'll be *the* first ones to do it, we'll be *one* of the first groups to do it![]()
