I made a useful index for runes you need to pick up to complete Ladder only runewords :

What kind of dumb assumption is that?

Oath, Obedience, and Ice are very useful runewords.
Rift is used big time by kicksins
VoR and Brand appear in some builds.
Wrath and Destruction- okay they're useless.

This list is honestly pointless.

I missed Rift but no need for that tone.
The others might be useful, but as I stated, noone uses them.

meh, useless "index". i use oath all the time. i've used ice before. obediance also gets play.

you create a thread of information with all of the info in there then let the users determine what parts to use otherwise it's just crap.

I think this could be of some use for the upcoming ladder season. Low and mid runes are usually all over the place until you need one, and knowing which runes are useful could nab you a nice lopsided trade. I wouldn't say that those runewords aren't used, but they're definitely for niche builds--and hence are hard to sell. Another thing you might want to consider is throwing in runes used in Horadric Cube Recipes (upping, socketing, crafting, etc.).

I thought this was the whole point of these forums. Put together useful information with combined input. Don't call something useless, if it doesn't fit exactly your view. Make a contribution and all likelihood, I'll update it, just like any other thread.
And FYI zaph and dead, this info is exactly what a lot of people are discussing atm. Also a lot of people couldn't care less about making up items at end of ladder, if this is you then don't reply in this thread obviously.
And talking about crap, that's way too much trailing space in your post deadman.

Runewords like Obediance do get used sometimes in ladder, but seriously have you ever used it in non-ladder ?

you werent creating a thread for discussion based on the thread title. you were creating a definitive, useful resource. it isnt useful if you dont include everything other people would find useful. sorry if i came off strong, it was more in response to the strength of your assertion that I need to pick up certain runes than the content itself.

i no longer play ladder. yes, i use obedience in NL.

EDIT: in all honesty i dont see much point in the "Index of most of the info you'd want" in the first place. i pick up all runes Lum and up. if i want to make something, i look the runeword up in Mr.Jone's link and see what runes i need and compare it to what runes i have. i rarely have a rune and wonder what words i can make with it. when i do have a rune and wonder what can be made with it i use a runeword calc. such as this one.

If you don't play ladder then obviously this index is useless to you. A few of us are in a mad scramble to work out what to do with what we have. This includes what to do with runes, and what socketables, which runes are not used and can be upgraded (Um). We have hoards of socketables and keep finding more and it's important to know which to process now and which to worry about later.
If you use Obediance non-ladder, thanks that's useful input I'll add it in. Means I can do something with my 5os eth cryptic axe too.
Right now I am picking up runes El+. Selling Sol+El+Dol for a HR is nice. People have been way overpaying to complete runewords.
