This is just a fun idea I was thinking about. Backlash is a rune effect of Mantra of Evasion. Here's what it does:
"Successfully dodging an attack has a chance to create a burst of flame dealing 35% weapon damage as Fire to all nearby enemies."
The Monk has many skill options and Dexterity as a primary stat to support this rune.
Let's start with Dexterity. Here's how Dodge scales with DEX at all levels at the moment:
Having 1000 DEX at level 60 seems absolutely doable to me, which would mean 30% Dodge.Code:Dex Range Dodge% / Dex 0 - 100 0.1 100 - 500 0.025 500 - 1000 0.02 1000 - 8000 0.01 8000 Dexterity = 100% chance to dodge
As for skills, Guardian's Path and Sixth Sense are obvious choices and Mantra of Evasion is mandatory of course. The Mantra and Guardian's Path both provide 15% maintainable Dodge.
Sixth Sense is worthless without a good amount of crit chance though. Base crit chance is 5%. 10% can spawn on gloves and amulets (on offhands as well, but because of Guardian's Path we can't use those) while rings, bracers and helms may carry an additional 6% each. If we get all of this, then our crit chance will become 49% and Sixth Sense will grant us 14.7% additional Dodge.
All of this would mean a maintainable 57% Dodge. The equation looks like this: 1 - ( (1 - 0.3) * (1 - 0.15) * (1 - 0.15) * (1 - 0.147) )
That's pretty good already, but with temporary bonuses like Lightning Flash (16% for 2s), Blinding Speed (20% for 3s) and Wall of Wind (20% for 3s) it can go even higher. Cyclone Strike also synergieses really well with Backlash. Theoretically, reaching 77% Dodge for 1-2 seconds should be possible. At that point Backlash should become a truly deadly AoE in crowds, even if its proc chance is relatively low.
I expect that this "build" would play something like this: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/s...stration-video
