I got to play open beta through to end and I got a yellow colored item at the end that looked like I needed to identify it. I know there were scrolls in D2. It wasn't very obvious how to get it identified. How do you do it in D3?
Right click it. I was surprised as well.
... I feel pretty dumb now. Thanks.
Yeah I walked to Cain and he just disappointed me.
The game could certainly make this more obvious. Why don't they just put "right-click to identify" in the item tooltip?
A friend of mine who's a casual gamer actually sold all the yellow items she came across. She didn't realize you had to identify them either and didn't know that yellow > blue > white in terms of quality. There are some things that really need to be explained better for someone who's never played, since a lot of this stuff is tribal knowledge at this point.

All these will be introduced with the game manual...o wait alot of people did digital download o.O. I'm thinking Blizz will expand the tutorial side and explain different concepts. For example, loading screen tips, log in screen tips, in game npc crabby that will give tips, and more tips.
Really? I just assumed they didn't because people I played with were asking me where to buy ID scrolls.. I right-clicked them too fast to notice it!
Maybe they just need to put it in BIG RED LETTERS or something. One of those little tutorial popups when you first get a rare would help to (once again, I don't know if that already exists, because I turn off the pop ups).
I watched my GF start out the D3 beta this weekend. She kept asking me how to do things that the game had just thrown at the player with the green tutorial tooltips. But those things are too small, don't stay long enough, and can't be re-activated once missed.
So I spent most of my time pointing to the screen, saying "it's written right there, in the small little window". That window that's faraway from all the flashy action going on, the monsters on the screen, the level up animation, and disappears to soon.
A bit of work is needed from blizzard on those tutorial tooltips. Make them flashing between green and purple ! Make them go away only if you click the little closing button at the top of it. It's annoying for those that know how to play the game, but wait... there's an option to turn them off if they bother you ! So just make them "permanent", in the sense that as long as the player didn't get rid of them, they stay. That would get rid of quite a number of silly questions from people that just didn't get the time to read a tooltip, accidentally clicked on another tooltip inducing event (that erases the preceding one), and whatnot.
Having said that, once my GF got the hang of it, and we played together on the second playthrough, I had nothing to say anymore. So maybe they did do something right ?
