    Any buyers here?

It seems that everyone is planning their selling strategy and figuring out how much they'll make per hr/day/month...etc? Is there an actual market early on? I imagine the market will be flooded with junk the first few weeks. Maybe after a month or so the real value items will start to appear. If there are buyers here what are you going to be looking for and what's the max you'll be spending?

I'll be spending only the same amount of money that I've earned selling things. As for what I'll buy with it, I can't really tell yet.. probably some end game gear.

    Re: Any buyers here?

Well, the first few days atleast will be easy enough through normal and nightmare. So no need for me to purchase anything. I might however spend a few dollars after that if I encounter difficulties. I want to continue to progress in both level and difficulty. So if my headgear for example is anciently outdated and a few crafting attempts prove to be fruitless I might just buy something to get the show on the road again. It all depends on available items and prices though. More then a few bucks isnt gonna work for me while leveling. And after that when endgame kicks in, yeah I might buy that special piece of gear if it takes me too long to accumulate enough wealth myself.

It all depends on how badly I feel I need a specific item. Large portions of the attraction of this game is to collect stuff and turn it into a steady increase in virtual wealth. So taking a shortcut through RMAH would only be an option if i cant wait or if an item isnt in the GAH or something.

    Re: Any buyers here?

Will there be a market early on? Yes. Is most of the early stuff junk? Relative to level 60 gear, absolutely. Some stuff will still sell.

Here's an example of junk selling:

Over Christmas Steam had a promotion where they were giving away random prizes for completing achievements. These prizes were games, discount coupons or pieces of coal. Games were obviously the lowest chance followed by coal and then coupons.

Each coal was an entry in a grand prize draw to win every game on steam. Great! you say, however only one person could win and there are a crap load of people on steam and there was always going to be a crapload of coal around by the end of 2 weeks of 6 potential achievements a day. 7 coal could also be combined together to get a random prize, this prize could be a game or a coupon. The odds were heavily in favour of coupons.

People were buying coal on the first day on the steam trading forums for >$2 a coal. By the end of 2 weeks they were paying less than 20c. But for the whole time people were buying coal.

Even junk has value, even if it's small, there is always a market of some sort.

Will I buy anything early? Hell no, supply is most constrained at the start so prices are highest.

I don't plan on buying anything through the rmah unless I end up making more money than I ever expected and it ends up being the only way to get certain items. Not counting flipping and stuff of course, I'll probably at some point have a surplus of blizzard bucks for the purpose of buying and flipping things.

I will spend about 40% of the daily/weekly/monthly earnings i will have in RMAH.I will start first, OFC, with selling only.
Once i have a steady, let's say 100 $ / week, i will invest 40 $ in RMAH.The BEST way to keep the market ALIVE and kicking, is for the main sellers to SPEND some of their earnings.

    Week 1 - 100 $ made - 40 $ reinvested for a future 10% net profit (after all fees, cuts, taxes) - balance : +60$
    Week 2 - 100 $ made + 60 $ previous balance + another 44$ (40$ + 10%).Another 40 $ reinvested - balance : +164 $
    Week 3 - 100 $ made + 164 $ previous balance + another 44 $(>>>>>>>>).Another 40 $ reinvested - balance : +268 $

At this point i could UP the reinvesting amout to 60$.

My entire strategy is to reinvest some of the money i make (regardless if 100 $ / month or 100 $ / day) to KEEP as much money in the economy. It would be stupid for me, and, tbh, for any serious seller, to do otherwise.

God you should have told me about the Steam coal... I would've sold it for 2$... Heck - I would have sold it for 20c too! Actually, probably wouldn't sell for 20c, but just because the I value the time spent making the trade happen more than 20c.

    Re: Any buyers here?

Hi all, i'm one of those that have been breaking its head about how i'm going to start.
I have 0 diablo experience, All my friends used to play diablo 2 and years have passed.
Years in which they told me i missed out on an epic game so i decided i couldnt miss Diablo 3.

I played guild wars en runecape, in every game i was a merchanter.
In guild wars i was an ectoplasm seller, in runescape i sold party hats for millions...

Now i have no clue about what stats are good in diablo.
But after reading forum after forum, after reading the entire item list on the diablo website i have
    made some conclusions.

Early on i will spend my time on leveling, try to keep up and get as far ingame as possible to get higher loot.
I will save all my gold ( unless i see cheap magic find items on AH ).

I think the market will revolve around a few things. Such as gems, they will become extremely good trading material.
Since most of the diablo spells are based on xxx % weapon damage it is obvious that there will be a big big market for high damage items.
With properties ( endgame ) and even without very gud properties ( earlier in game ).

Early game i will salvage all my stuff into materials and keep stacking my materials till end game.
I will craft almost nothing. When you reach lvl 60 and your blacksmith is able to make some nice high end bows then thats where all my
materials will go into. Of my entire Diablo 3 playing time that i've saved em up.

Automatically i will have a good stack of gold after a month. From the start I am going to follow the AH
For about 1houre a day. Follow prices, learn about items, learn what stats are wanted etc. And after about 2-3 weeks
try to guess which items/materials are going to be stable at what price. At 3 weeks my merchanting starts.
Then I buy all of those items that i believe are going to get stable at a higher price. And i stock up my merchanting stuff.

At this point I'm going to mix into the market. Follow it more frequently. Gaming time 70 % , AH 30 %.
At this point I start to follow the prices of the currency in my spreadsheet ( see devils post ).

I think a good plan is always having low end items on the AH aswell
Around a month you will have players that start a second character.
I will try to sell good early items with decent stats, for very decent prices.

If all goes well i should spiral up with this tactic.
Big price differences on AH and RMAH will make me buy it on one AH and sell it on the other.

All by all, i already have a group of 5 friends to play to breeze me through the levels.
I already have a succesful clan which i can join. And i'm planning to become the clan's merchanter.

Merchanting worked in runescape and guild wars, Will i succeed in diablo 3.
Will i end up selling high end rare items and legendary items ?

Thats why i also choose the witch docter, my friends believe this will be the solo farmer class.

    Re: Any buyers here?

While I largely expect to play HC, I do game with a couple buddies on Friday nights that will play SC only. That said, if I know there is a particularly grindy progression period (from playing HC experience) I would happily throw $5 bucks a month at smoothing that curve for our Friday night gaming sessions.

If I largely play SC then I doubt it, because then my personal stash of items should cover the groups needs.
