I never in a million years thought this many people would need to youtube/google the words
"how to identify items diablo 3"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCjhv6TmMRM
The comments section is the most entertaining part.

"I'm an idiot"
"We're all idiots"
"facepalm"
"im a moron"
"okay now I feel dumb"
Thanks for a good laugh![]()
There should be a channel with really basic stuff like this.
"How to move in Diablo 3"
7 second video of someone clicking the ground a few times.
"How to craft in Diablo 3"
4 second video of someone clicking the craft button.
I'm not sure I saw a noob-tip along the lines of "You can click an ally's banner near the town wp to teleport to that ally." That would be something a noob would want to know.
To be fair, the current method of identifying objects in D3 is kind of ridiculous :/ The ONLY difference between blue items (pre-identified) and better (unidentified) is the few seconds it takes you to click the item and watch the progress bar... why on earth did that seem like a good idea?
What I kept telling all my friends who tried the beta for the first time this weekend:
1) turn on elective mode and advanced tooltips in options
2) ALL your skill damage is based on your weapon DPS
Then one friend started playing before I'd had a chance to fill him in on this and couldn't figure out why he couldn't kill stuff :(
This process of identifying is so derp to begin with. I understand people not knowing because its so so so freak'n spastoid. Derpy derpy herpy derpy herperloids. Lets identify stuff like blizzard spazaloids.
It is really freaking pointless. No idea why it hasn't been taken out.
I have to agree here, doesn't make sense unless there's a different identify method further down the line.
With that being sad, I found myself carrying a high DPS axe around with my Wizard, which felt a little...odd. I eventually found a decent DPS dagger to give her a more "elegant" feel but failed to really find any Wizard only items, save for a few low wands here or there. Also the blacksmith didn't have anything listed for the Wizard, he seems more taylored for the Barb.
So my questions are:
Has anyone found a wand in beta that has as much DPS as say a hi DPS Axe or Sword?
Has anyone found a recipe for the blacksmith that renders a high DPS wand?
I just checked out the armory page on the DiabloIII.com site and found that some of the wands listed are insanely powerful...two of which are sets, one is Tal Rashas. Cool.

DPS isnt EVERYTHING though. A Wand may have less DPS than a hi DPS sword or axe, but the highest swords and axes are reserved only for Barbs probably anyway, just as Barbs cannot use many Wands. A Wand typically has less DPS, but other benefits like a resource increase, or leech, faster regen and such can make up for this. A wand and an orb are probably the best choice overall for a Wiz, while a Barb will want to dual wield with two axes or swords.
