Outside of being in town (teleporting to other characters), do banners do anything?
No, they're pointless.

I think they are intended for pvp. It's the diablo version of tea bagging.

Idea - they should re-implement and integrate the talisman and banners. Banners become a placeable spell turret depending on your charm load configuration within the talisman.
Use the banner as a time machine, go back two years into the past, tell the Blizzard team "Banners are stupid. Cut them instead of the mystic" and everyone wins.

Banner should summon a follower of your choice when you are in multi-player and make them say something.
The weird thing is the Blizz guys always pump the banner up like it's some awesome mechanic. It's a piece of cloth.
